Spring break is upon us, which means time for a good ole fashioned road trip. You either really love them or really hate them. Road trips are an essential part of any college student or really anyone’s life. They bring people together, because, I mean, there really isn’t anything else to do when stuck together driving 70 down the highway.
1. The excited stage
You have been planning this trip for months and are ready to put your plan to action. You are all packed, and even though you may still be contemplating whether you have overpacked, you are still pumped. The Spotify playlists are perfected and you have enough snacks to last through the apocalypse. Now let's hope everyone is as excited as you are and let's get this show on the road!
2. The bonding stage
This is really the meaning for road trips, right? Sharing embarrassing moments and what we really think on anything and everything — it will bring anyone closer. You can’t escape each other anyway, so why not embrace it and be best friends? Don't forget the endless entertainment that singing along to old Beyoncé songs and Miley before the buns music can bring to any group.
3. The happy medium Stage
This is still fun, right? The playlists are still playing through the first time, we are all content with staring out the window anticipating the upcoming adventure. It hasn't hit us yet that we still have 10 hours left. This could also be dubbed the honeymoon stage, the time where road trips still seem like fun.
4. The "are we there yet?" stage
So it's hour five or six or 10, and the realization of how long you have been sitting in this metal box sets in. No longer is the playlist you worked for weeks on entertaining. Your snacks are no longer appealing and you have eaten fast food like five times already. No more stopping we are going to get there in this century.
5. Finally, we are here stage
Sweet ground, oh how I have missed you! I need to pee and eat all at the same time. Were the numerous hours in the car worth it? Most definitely.
Happy road tripping!
