Crafting sounds nice and simple. In theory, it is quite simple. Most of us were crafting with construction paper, glue sticks, and pom poms from a young age. Unfortunately, it doesn't always stay that simple and easy. As we get older, we start attempting more and more complicated craft ideas. These more complicated ideas are obviously not as easy as construction paper and glue, and we often underestimate the amount of work it will take. However, just like anything else, crafting is a process.

1. Inspiration

We find something we think we're capable of making and set out to make our very own, regardless of if we can actually do this. Sometimes we slightly overestimate our own abilities. For instance, we think we can paint a beautiful canvas, but we can't even draw a stick figure.

2. Shopping

We set out to our nearest craft store to buy what we need. Whether that's Michael's, Hobby Lobby, or JoAnn, they pull you in; there are so many choices and possibilities! Three hours and $100 later, we come out with an entire cart full of stuff, much of which we bought "just in case."

3. Organization

After we buy way more than we need, we try to get together the supplies we will actually use for this project, plus some glitter, just in case. Getting out just what we need helps us get not extremely overwhelmed, just slightly. What brushes do you need? What paint? Glue? Canvases?

4. Procrastination

Maybe we get overwhelmed before we even start because we realize that this project is way beyond our capabilities, or we start and realize we're in over our heads, so we decide to take a break indefinitely. We contemplate why we thought this would be a good idea to begin with.

5. Satisfaction

We finally finish our project, after lots of whining; and, although it doesn't look identical to the inspiration piece, you're proud of it because you made it yourself! It's a one-of-a-kind piece. After you finish, you're glad you tried it in the first place. Now you're ready to tackle another project!

Though now maybe only Pinterest junkies and sorority girls craft regularly, crafting is somewhat therapeutic after you see what you were actually capable of making! It's a nice stress relief, confidence booster, and inexpensive decorating technique. Start off with something simple and work your way to more complicated projects if you're not super crafty.

Good luck on your next crafting adventure! May your glitter stay in place. May your colors not bleed. May you have some self control in craft stores.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
