1. Pinning

Considering your creativity level is actually negative, turn to the handy Pinterest for some crafting inspo. This is seriously overwhelming, but try to whittle your crafting board down from 300+ adorably cute canvasses to like 3. Ain’t nobody got time for that.

2. Planning

Now that you’ve narrowed it down to crafts you might actually be able to pull off, start making your list. Trust me, you’ll need more paint than you think and when your dog steps on a newly painted wet canvass, you’ll want some extras lying around.

3. Shopping

You’ve made your list and checked in twice, so off to Michael’s you go. For those of you unfamiliar with the infamous crafts store, it is actually heaven. You may get lost a few hundred times, but the workers will know you by name when you go for the third time in one day and won’t judge at all. (Okay, maybe a little.)

4. Crafting

After you’ve slaved through the first three steps, you can FINALLY start this whole crafting thing. So, you paint your canvasses whatever beautiful pastel color and think, okay I totally got this. WRONG. Time to start painting that Lily print which, once you’re done with, will make her turn over in her grave. Eventually, you’ll be covered in both paint and glitter, and end up throwing the canvas right into the trash out of pure shame.

5. Starting All Over

Unless you’re the Picasso of crafting, you WILL have to start over completely at least once, if not five times, like me. I promise it will get a little better with each try and soon enough that cute little canvas on Pinterest will be sitting right in front of you. No need for Etsy anymore!

6. Final Product

After hours of blood, sweat, and many tears, you finally have a craft you’ll proudly put on your wall and later, pass down your lineage. The gratification of having made your own craft makes all the time and money on it very well spent and will make the next round of crafting that much easier.
