We’ve all lusted over something fabulous that we’ve convinced ourselves we need… until we flip over the price tag and realize that Prada bag is just a penny or two out of reach. Shopping is no fun when we can’t get everything we want! Check out my hidden gems of the shopping world and learn how to stretch your dollars just a little further. Who wouldn’t want to add an extra item or two to their cart?
1. Hautelook
If anything from the app store is worth downloading, it’s Hautelook. It is by far my favorite site to browse, but seems to remain a secret amongst the online shopping community! Hautelook is owned and operated by Nordstrom, and the site features flash sales on brand-name items from fashion to beauty to home décor. Discounts reach up to 75% off retail prices, and new items are featured each day. Since the products available change so frequently, this is a fun app to browse on the daily. You can only shop the site if you’re a member though, so click here to get looking!
2. Ebates
If you’re someone who likes to buy everything from the comfort of your own home, Ebates is the perfect companion to your online shopping addiction. Start all of your shopping on Ebates in order to find the best coupons and to earn cash back on every single one of your purchases. That’s right, you basically get paid to shop! Each quarter, Ebates will send you your “cash back” in the form of a check or through PayPal. It sounds too good to be true, but don’t worry, it’s not a scam. Ebates is an affiliate company, meaning that it makes a small commission for referring people to other shopping sites, which is how you can get paid. Download this app and you’ll be making (and spending) money in no time!
3. Overstock
For anyone who has just moved out or has been on their own for a while now, you know that furnishing a home can be outrageously expensive. As the name suggests, this site mainly sells surplus merchandise at below wholesale prices. Overstock features home décor, bedding, furniture, kitchen supplies and more. With this app, it makes it easy to justify buying that crystal vase you’ll probably only use once or twice a year!
4. Retail Me Not
If you ever needed help on your path to extreme couponing, RetailMeNot can get you started. Along with “VoucherCodes,” it is the largest coupon site in the US and the UK. The site boasts “500,000+ Coupons for 50,000 Stores.” Woah, you’ve got a lot of clipping to do! Simply print which coupon you want, apply the code online, or present the app in-store to get discounts on your favorite products.
5. Groupon
Groupon is a great way to find out about new restaurants, stores, services or activities in your area. Each day, the site sends out an email with a “deal-of-the-day” type of notification, promoting various services in your city. You can get discounts up to 60% off the original price. What a deal!
*Use the code “SAVE10” when you checkout to get $10 off your first Groupon!
So what are you waiting for? Get to shopping, and SAVING! Whether you're shopping for yourself, a friend, or just browsing for fun, these apps are definitely worth the download.
