5. Bambolino’s Italian Kitchen
Located amongst the hustle and bustle of Westheimer Road, this Italian spot is definitely a home-style hole in the wall worth trying. The classic pepperoni pizza will make you scream “Mama Mia” and the Alfredo pasta is cooked to perfection! If you are looking for Italian cuisine besides Olive Garden that is not too pricey, then you have definitely found a new spot.
4. Sweet Paris
Quaintly nestled in the Rice Village, this quaint and cozy creperie is making quite the name for itself. Their Nutella crepe with strawberries and banana is to die for and the rest of the menu looks just as good. They can be a bit expensive, depending on what you like, but you will get your money’s worth. It would be perfect for a first date.
3. Flip’n Patties Food Truck
Texas tang meets Filipino flavor whenever this street-style food truck pulls up on the scene. It be can be found anywhere around the city of Houston or the University of Houston’s main campus throughout the year. Their famous sweet buns will have you coming back for more, but their flip’n fries will always be a favorite of mine.
2. House of Pies
I have no shame in admitting that this place is probably one of the greatest things to ever enter my life. With two locations within the major Houston area, House of Pies provides filling dinners, classic breakfast entrees and desserts that are unmatched. Similar to iHop or Denny’s, H.O.P. also has an affordable, old-school diner feel. Whether it is for a quick lunch stop or just to grab a slice of cake, I recommend making House of Pies a “must-try”.
1. The Breakfast Klub
Around this time, six months ago, my life was changed. Around this time, six months ago, is when I first stepped foot into the Breakfast Klub. This place is HANDS DOWN one of the best food spots in Houston. Located in the Midtown area, The Breakfast Klub offers a wide variety of breakfast platters and soul food dishes. You would have thought that God, himself, anointed that food because it is always busy and the line of people is usually long. Personally, I like the Katfish & Grits, but almost anything is recommendable. The owner is a very nice, friendly man who can usually be seen checking up on customers, personally. All of this being said, The Breakfast Klub truly is one of Houston’s underrated gems.
