5 Things To Remember During Finals Week

The end of the semester is finally approaching and the doom of finals is quickly upon us as well. It is so easy to become overwhelmed during this time and forget about what truly is important. Here are five things to remember when going into finals.

1. Your grade does not define you as a person

It can be so hard not to compare ourselves to others and this becomes especially true with grades. It is important to remember that your grades are not a reflection of you as a person. A potential employer will not be looking through every grade from every class and not hire you because of the one "C" you earned. Look past grades.

2. You're in college to make memories

Something that I have been constantly thinking about is how quickly college has gone by. It seems like just yesterday I was moving into my freshmen dorm and feeling nervous and excited to start my first year. College goes by in the blink of an eye and this is the time to have fun and have some freedom. Yes, college is also about hopefully getting a job when all is said and done but these are some years to be treasured forever.

3. You have time to fix things

If this semester just didn't go the way you thought it would just remember, there is always next semester. You have time to get better grades and figure out what you want to do in life. This isn't the end all be all.

4. Look at the bigger picture

Right now it may seem like the world is on top of you, but just think about how soon this will all be over. You have to suffer through this one last week and soon all your stress will be over. This one week can cause tremendous pressure, but it is important to take a step back and look at the bigger picture.

5. You will be home so soon

What ultimately will keep you going, SO soon you will be home with your family and friends and the worry and anxiety will be gone. Also Christmas comes along with this as well. What gets better than that?!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
