The challenge to accept and love ourselves should not be a difficult one, but is a consistent battle we face and will continue to deal with. This ongoing theme of minimal confidence and insecurity is frequent in any person, so don't worry you are not alone.
One minute, you can be in love with yourself and, the next, find yourself questioning everything you do, and despising yourself for no reason. You quickly find yourself drowning in self-destructive thoughts that are simply made up in your head.
Even the most optimistic and positive of people face the reality of self-loathing. This constant struggle we face will be one that will never leave our thoughts, but can be easily shifted and masked by making yourself a priority in your life.
It can be so easy to forget to take time for ourselves, especially when we are overwhelmed withe trying to make everyone around us happy. Here is the thing, in order to make others genuinely happy, you must be happy yourself.
Often times we do not think about how greatly the little things we do for ourselves impact our overall lives. Whether this be setting time aside to get a quick workout in, or getting rid of the salty foods, and start maintaing a healthy diet.
Girls, I speak for all of us when I say that when I clean myself up, I feel that much more ready to take on anything thrown at me.
You are whole and complete, beautiful and confident, just the way you are. We do not get to choose what we are given, but we do get to choose how to embrace what we have been given and value ourselves for who we simply are.
There will always be the uncontrollable factors that impact our self-love but there are also a few simple steps that help obtain and maintain our self-worth:
1. Taking Care Of Your Body
It can be very difficult for us to make taking care of our bodies a priority, especially when there are so little hours in the day, and so many other things to be done. We are all guilty of putting our bodies through treacherous abuse by eating unhealthy, getting minimal sleep, and neglecting to set time aside to exercise.
Our bodies need to be cared for in order to function properly. How can you say you love yourself, if you are not taking the best possible care of yourself? It is important to reflect on what you put in your body and how often you rejuvenate it through some sort of daily exercise.
2. Clean Up All Aspects Of Your Life
Whether, this be cleaning up your living space, organizing your school work, or even cleaning up your appearance. As unimportant as these little things may seem, cleaning them up can make the biggest difference in your daily life.
No one likes to have their life all over the place. Being disorganized in one aspect of your life makes everything else around you more stressful.
Appearance is not everything, but it is something. When you are confident with yourself, achieving the other tasks in your life become little easier. You can walk around with grace and feel productive by simply changing out of those sweats and freshening yourself up.
3. Make Smart Decisions
Making better decisions and having awareness in your life bring you to a place of higher self worth. Knowing your personal decisions brought you happiness is a simple way to enjoy life and believe you can achieve anything.
The choices you make everyday reflect what you want for yourself. We all make poor decisions, and sometimes those decisions impact us in a greater sense than originally thought. Think before you do anything, not just about what may come from the choice at that moment but also the impact it will have in the future.
4. Be Kind To Yourself And Others
In order to better others, you must be kind to yourself, and release any anxiety or guilt through being present in your immediate thoughts and remembering all will be well.
Focusing on yourself to better your life is important, but servicing others can be just as rewarding as serving yourself. It can be as simple as complimenting someone or reminding them how special they are.
When we serve to make others happy, their happiness impacts the way we look at life. By being kind to others, you are benefiting those around you as well as yourself.
5. Do What You Love
When I think of happiness, I think of what heightens my excitement and makes me feel superior. Giving yourself the time to do whatever it may be that you love, nourishes yourself, bringing out your innermost expression. What comes natural to you is what can be most beneficial to your overall happiness.
