5 Reasons Why I Love Trinity College

Trinity is an exceptionally amazing college because of several reasons. I've only outlined 5 most important reasons why Trinity is so appealing to me.

  • TEST OPTIONAL: I was shocked as well. After practically memorizing every SAT book in history and retaking the SAT about 70 times, I had come to the conclusion that a well-ranked college would never take me because of my scores. Luckily, Trinity introduced their Sat-Optional policy last year when I applied and made so many students’ lives much easier. Although I did end up sending my scores, I was relieved that my scores weren’t a determining factor for my admission. Trinity emphasized that any standardized test cannot determine how intelligent or creative you are.

  • FOOD: I imagined a gray cafeteria with bland mud-like food. Oh boy, I was so wrong. Trinity not only ensures that its students eat healthy, but also provides food from all around the world so students never get bored of the taste. From sushi corners, Chinese counters, weekly dose of delicious Indian food, Mexican tacos and quesadillas to burgers, fries, subs, pancakes, waffles, salads (I shall visit that counter one day) and smoothies, Trinity has it all. Most importantly, Mather Hall’s desserts are HEAVENLY.

  • FITNESS: Nice change of topic, eh? Thank you Ferris Athletic Center for existing or I would’ve even slept in Mather. Fully equipped gyms, swimming pools and weight-lifting rooms are a few things that Trinity’s athletic center offers free of cost to its students. In addition, free classes for Jujitsu, Zumba and Yoga are available throughout the year for all students. Did I forget to mention there is a Fitness 101 class that you get credit for? Yeah, I know. WOW.

  • PROFESSORS: Every professor here makes a genuine effort to get to know the specific interests, strengths and weaknesses of each student and to teach in such a way that every student is easily able to learn and understand. This individual attention has helped me critically analyze my work, confidently and shamelessly ask any question that confuses me and to do my best.

  • ACCEPTANCE: I was slightly nervous to come to New England, which is known as a comparatively less diverse area of the US. However, as soon as I entered Trinity, all these pre-conceived notions disappeared. One can find students from almost every country here, merging in and easily adapting to the friendly environment at Trinity College. Students and professors display an interest to learn new cultures, religions, traditions and laws of the countries we come for. I’ve never felt uncomfortable or in desperate need of local friends when I’m with my diverse group of new friends. You won’t feel left out and you will eventually find your people. That’s what I was told and that’s exactly what I’ve experienced. Also, Trinity not only accepts but motivates and encourages one to become the best version of his/herself.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
