The days are getting colder, the leaves are turning orange and brown, and we all know the fall is coming. I personally love this time of year as we transition from summer into autumn, and would just like to take some time to explain, from a guy's perspective, why fall is my favorite season. I'll apologize in advance to any girls out there that "pumpkin spice everything" will not be part of my list. Let's get going.
1. Football is back
As a born-and-raised Wisconsin boy, you could probably guess that the Green Bay Packers and pro football as a whole are a very big part of my life, and with the fall season also comes football season. Words can't really describe how I feel huddled around the TV with my buddies watching my boys in green and gold take the field and give it their all, but it is pretty exhilarating and almost guaranteed to bring out my inner beast.
2. The best holidays
Fall bring us two of my favorite holidays in Halloween and Thanksgiving. Between dressing up in ridiculous costumes with my friends and eating amazing food while catching up and watching football with my family, I really can't think of any better celebrations in our society.
3. Chilly weather
Call me crazy, but I will take a refreshing and brisk day of fall over a hot, muggy, humid, and awful dog day of summer any time. I'm not sure what exactly it is, probably my being a Wisco native, but I just feel much more at home in the chill than in the heat.
4. Sweaters
This kind of ties in with my last point, but I absolutely love sweaters. Seriously, I'd like to know how anyone in this world could not love the warm embrace of a cozy sweater on a chilly fall day, it's simply perfection.
5. Back to school (for now)
Okay, hear me out here. While I don't exactly like fall for the return of the academic year, I do very much love making my return to campus and being back in the city that I love so much with the people that help make it great. I guess you could say the only thing that would make going back to college even better is not having to actually go back to school. I just don't know what I'll do with myself after I graduate and have to be an adult, but I'll take this one step at a time.
So this is but a small sampling of all the aspects of autumn that, for me anyway, make it the best season there is. So for those of you out there that absolutely detest this season, I challenge you to take a step back and look at all of the positives. Who knows, you just might think differently in the future.
