5 Reasons We Love Elephants

I have never 'herd' of a person who didn't love elephants. They are one of those animals that are just renowned for their beauty, and so unique. No mammal in the world looks like they could really be related to them. This beautiful species is going to go extinct soon if we do not act upon it. Companies like The Elephant Pants, Ivory Ella, and some fair trade organizations are working towards stopping poaching one step at a time. So here are five reasons why we love these beautiful creatures.

1. African Elephants are the largest land mammals in existence today.

There is no other land mammal that can compare to its size, shape or beauty today. Though elephants do range in size, the African elephant is the ruler of them all.

2.Elephants are Matriarchal

That's right, even elephants love girl power, elephant herds do have ruling males, but nothing gets done without the mothers. Girls rule.

3. Elephants can recognize their faces in a Mirror.

There are few animals that can do this (us included) so it really just shows their strong intellect.

4. Elephants are afraid of mice.

Me too, elephants, me too.

5. Elephants can swim.

They stick their trunks out of the water to breathe if it gets too deep. Looks like Tantor in Tarzan was more accurate than you thought.

So help save these majestic creatures before they are gone too soon.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
