With all the political distant and racial issues occurring within our country today, what we have failed to realize is that we all need to think a little less and love a little more. Throughout our history, mass migrations to the United States have brought forth hundreds of cultures and traditions into the melting pot. With all the social issues within our country occurring, many of us forget to realize the point of having society is to prevent anarchy and mutually benefit each other, but it seems like we have lost our ways.

One minority that seems be left out of the fray is Asian Americans, which is odd because we account for 5.6 percent (US Census 2010) or 17 million of the population. Like any other ethnic group within our country, we have our own issues, but thanks to mass media and stereotypes, we have to managed to gain superhuman abilities, especially in the medical and mathematical fields of intelligence. For the better of the United States, we all have to intermingle and get to know each other within our society to grow toward a stable future. So here are five reasons why you should date an Asian American.

1. Honor students.

Academically, we are the “Cream of the Crop, oh yeah” (Macho Man) thanks to many stereotypes produced by society over the years. So if you need help with math, science or any field of academics, we can make it a study date. With academics being the base of success in society today, dating one of us gives you a tactical advantage over other peers in this ever-so competitive college and job market. So whether it's studying for an Algebra test or MCAT, we got you, fam.

2. No In-laws.

Something every married couple has to unfortunately deal with are the in-laws. Everyone dreads having to deal with the in-laws during random visits and holidays, but the nice thing about eventually marrying an Asian American is that, more than likely, their parents will speak little or no english. This makes family dinners and social functions stress free and easier to deal with, and makes sure that you will be able to live independent lives.

3. The food.

Contrary to popular belief, Asian Americans believe pets are friends not food (excluding seafood), and have one of the most diverse varieties of meals and snacks. Almost everyone you meet will inform you of the amazing feats of Korean BBQ and bubble tea, but our culture is so much more than that, with varieties based in every dietary religion. Ever since the war, snacks and candy have been an essential part of our diets, ranging from Pocky to HiChews, and this mentality has marginalized and opened markets around the world, making it accessible to hundreds of different countries.

4. Doctor.

It seems becoming any kind of medical practitioner is written into our genes. Whether a dentist or psychologist, many stereotypes exist about Asians becoming doctors and all of them are true. We are the best of the best, owning the highest GPA’s and destroying the MCAT. So remember, if you want to be the wife of a future hard worker who saves lives, you know who to date.

5. Get to see the world.

With Asian Americans being clumped into one group, society fails to remember that we all come from different regions and various ethnic groups. So unlike going down the street to go see grandma, you have to take one plane, two boats and four taxis to be home for Christmas. Honestly, you will see the world with most of us Asian Americans speak more than just English and have family located around the globe, making it easy to go on vacation in a foreign land without being a true tourist.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
