You Know Who You Are,
Its everything little and small that I appreciate about you. Coming to college was exciting but I was scared, being a person who has never been a fan of the unknown my stress levels were high, they still are but for other reasons. People always asked what I feared the most, it wasn’t getting good grades or doing my homework it was finding a place I belonged with people who loved me. Homework, tests, quizzes and getting graded on my work I had been dealing with that all my life but going to place where I knew not a single person was something I had never done. The first weekend I met so many people, it was very overwhelming. It wasn’t too long before I had established who I had classes with, shared the same major or even the same interests. This was a good starting place and things only got better from there. After being in college almost one semester these are the top five things that I am thankful for when it comes to my college family:
1: They Are Always There for Me:
Walmart trips, Panera, movies all day, sharing stories, venting and eating every meal together. There are just a few of the many things that my college family shares with me. I cannot thank them enough for hugging me extra tight when I miss my family or sharing their moms home cooked meals with me. These people will never truly understand how grateful I am.
2: They Make Me Laugh:
Often times so hard I cry, my stomach aches and my face hurts from smiling so much. It’s time like these that I appreciate the mental breaks from homework to listen to a joke that probably isn’t even that funny or talk about something weird we saw on campus.
3: They Know My Favorites:
It’s not often that I stumble on people that actually care about my favorite candy, how I organize or what is on my Christmas list but my college family needs to know everything. And when I say everything I mean everything.
4: They Believe in Me:
These people share classes and homework struggles with me, they help me out when I need it and always wish me a cheery good luck whenever I am nervous about a grade in class. They know that I can succeed at whatever I put my mind to. I appreciate the constant faith when I’m not feeling it towards myself.
5: They Accept Me for Who I Am
I have my off days, my strange or sassy moments, I am not perfect and they know that and they love me anyway. We are completely comfortable around each other. They enjoy me for who I am and I enjoy them, it just works.
