5 Reasons I'm Broke

I could probably think of a lot more, but these are the top 5 that affect me on a daily basis.

Reason #1: Food.

Food is the number one reason I am broke. I can’t deny my friends when they ask if I want to go out to eat!! A chance to eat real food instead of the dining hall? Sign me up, I don’t care if its a restaurant or fast food, but it’s hurting my bank account greatly. Heidi’s, the all amazing sandwich place, or going to find a new restaurant in Old Port, there’s no way to deny a nice meal out.

Reason #2: Clothing.

Clothing..every girl’s weakness. Every time I make a trip to the mall I have to buy something, whether it be a shirt from Forever 21 or a pair of $50 jeans from American Eagle, I can’t resist. It is impossible for me to go to the mall and not buy something because I love clothes so much.

Reason #3: Textbooks.

Textbooks are ridiculously expensive, as we all know, but it’s not just a one time cost. Nope, twice a year! Because everyone has the money for that! But you got to get your education. Sometimes I don’t even use the textbook I was required to buy, so it was a waste of money in the first place.

Reason #4: Sports Gear.

Sports gear..I need it. Between a new helmet, sweatpants, t-shirts, and jackets, I am dropping major cash on sports gear to represent. I can’t get enough of sports gear, I love to represent my school, as well as brag about the fact that I play softball here, so I love to have all the gear possible.

Reason #5: Aroma Joes.

After my first trip to Aroma Joes, I was forever addicted. $4 for a single drink, that hurt my debit card, and of course it’s a nice 5 minute walk from campus! Blue Hawaiian Rush..a nice energy drink to wake me up in the morning before my 9:30 class, couldn’t ask for anything better, maybe cheaper! I’m not a fan of coffee, so when I found a drink that wakes me up I have to stick with it, and this is addicting, let me tell you.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
