As I enter my last semester of college, I keep getting asked the same questions I've been asked for the past year. Now I know I can't be the only one getting asked these questions!
1. When are you getting married?
At 22 years old, I thought I would have an answer to that question, but lucky for all you bachelors out there, I don't. However, every family gathering, about 10 minutes in, this question comes up! It's the best thing ever to be reminded that you are the only one still single.
2. What are you doing after you graduate?
Ha! The answer everyone wants to hear? I plan to move to the city and work for some agency, have a nice studio apartment with a doorman and meet a great man who works on Wall Street to spend happily ever after with.
Honest answer? Winging it! No plans, not at all.
3. You don't want kids?
Along with being unmarried and having no clear life path, let me just add to the disappointment: no, I don't want kids and that's okay!
Maybe one day, and I do stress that maybe, but in my post graduation plans that are non-existent, there is one existent plan — no kids. No thanks!
4. Wait, you want to move?
Believe it or not, Alabama is not where I want to live out my days. I want to live everywhere and see everything. Call me a nomad or call me crazy. I just don't want to settle down and stay in the same place I grew up. It's a cool place to come back to, but I want to get out and live other places first.
5. Really?
After hearing the answers to the above questions, my favorite part of the conversation usually comes up. This is the part where people sit back and ponder everything you've just said and can only reply with, "Really?" This usually leads to you having to justify or defend your ideas, but at least you know you're not going to get anymore questions any time soon!
