Being in your twenties is like starting a new video game and skipping the tutorial because you think you know what you are doing. But really you are just walking around aimlessly just trying to figure things out. A lot of people say being in a committed relationship during this time is sort of like leaving a party at 9 p.m., but I beg to differ. Here are some perks of being in a serious relationship in your early twenties:

1. You don't have to deal with dating.

Let's face it, dating in today's world sucks. With all these new dating and hook-up websites, it's hard to find a decent human being, let alone a serious relationship. If you are in a serious relationship in your twenties, obviously you don't have to deal with this. You don't have to worry about if he is seeing other girls or if they are lying to you about where they are. All you have to deal with is your friends coming to you in tears because their date stood them up or just wanted a physical thing rather than a relationship.

2. You have your own personal therapist.

Your twenties are a confusing time full of weirdness and unknowns. If you are in a serious relationship in your twenties, you always have someone to talk to and lean on when you need them. Plus you don't have to pay them to give you their opinion.

3. You already have a date to events.

It's not uncommon in your twenties to get invited to weddings and parties and bringing a date. If you are in a serious relationship, that is already handled for you. You don't have to awkwardly ask the girl you have been seeing for a couple weeks to go to your cousin's wedding and meet your whole crazy family yet.

4. It's more than just a physical one night thing.

It's not uncommon for twenty-somethings to go out and have a good time and end up going home with someone just to never talk to them again. It may feel good in the moment, but the next day you wake up feeling kind of used. He didn't even have the decency to make breakfast. But in a serious relationship you aren't taken advantage of and I'm sure if you ask nicely they would make you breakfast. Your significant other looks at you with a future, not just a one night thing.

5. You are at a new point in your life.

You are at a new point in your life where things are getting pretty serious. Going though and finishing college, scoring that first big job or getting a new place. If you are in a serious relationship, this person is here for you through all of this stuff usually beside you planning a life with you as you take the big steps.

Being in your twenties is exciting and full of many different opportunists. Being able to spend those opportunists with someone special to you is just one of the many perks of being in a relationship in your twenties.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
