Anxiously waiting for that text message saying classes are cancelled is every college student's dream. A snow day is just as good as winning the lottery. Even though we have only been back at school for a couple of weeks, this is the best news we have heard. The possibilities are endless for what you can do on your snow day; go out, have fun, and be safe!
1. You can binge-watch Netflix all day
For many college students, the thought of a snow day takes you back to being a kid; playing in the snow, building a snowman, sledding down the hill. But for some, the thought of going outside in the cold makes you cringe. What does sound fun is finally being able to spend hours watching your show without interruptions while eating all you want. The thought of leaving your blanket burrito never crosses your mind.
2. You don't have to wake up for class.
As college students, we've learned our lessons to not to take early morning classes. We know the struggle of trying to get up and get ready. Getting that text notification saying classes are cancelled due to snow is the best thing to see. Not having to wake up early for class is the greatest feeling. Sleeping in late and having messy hair all day is the best feeling ever.
3. You don't have to fight the snow and layer up just to switch classes.
The worst part of winter is wearing three layers just to go outside. 30 lbs. of fabric later and feeling a bit like a marshmallow, you show up to class only to die from the mass amounts of heat pouring from the vents.
4. You get a day to catch up on your homework.
Some college students use the snow day as a day to relax, play in the snow, or just sleep in. But for the academic types, they spend it catching up on homework or getting a jump on upcoming assignments.
5. You can have a buy one, get one free blizzard.
Not many people think about ice cream when it's pouring snow outside. But for those of us who jump at any opportunity for free food (college students), Dairy Queen offers BOGO blizzards on snowy days.
