5 Orlando Concerts You Should Know About

Orlando is offering some great entertainment this year, and you should know about it!

5 Orlando Concerts You Should Know About

1. Father John Misty – April 30, 2016, at Beacham Theater

Father John Misty, whose real name is Josh Tillman, is at the simplest a folksinger; and with that, one who is often jokingly associated with a cult hipster following (he even makes a cameo in Aziz Ansari’s new Netflix series). With an honest and even cynical sound, Tillman touches on themes of the truth of love, the human condition, and self-loathing in his music. His lyrics are thought provoking and complex; the type of words that will make you take away bars that can be applied to your own life. His most recent album, "I Love You, Honeybear" is the type of album written in a way that you trust to be honest, but understand is written with a sardonic tone.

Check his show out if you like Fleet Foxes, Tame Impala or Mac Demarco.

2. Xxyyxx – March 19, 2016, at The Social

Originally from Orlando, xxyyxx plays an electronic artist and is also a record producer. The man behind xxyyxx, Marcell Everett, remains fairly low key and has minimal biographical information out as well as minimal interactions on social medias. His music is a meditative, deep R&B. Everett fills the void between the two genres of electronic and R&B and manages to create his own unique sound.

Check the show out if you like SBTKRT, James Blake or How to Dress Well.

3. Skizzy Mars - March 25, 2016, at Backbooth

Another artist growing in popularity is Skizzy Mars. His latest album was well waited for and features many other popular artists such as G-Eazy, Olivver and Phoebe Ryan. His music is easily identified as his own and features deep synth and bass. Often times Skizzy's music attracts fans because of its ability to create hybrid sounds between light pop vocals and rap. Much like rapper Raury, Skizzy Mars brings a certain indie feel to classic rap.

Check him out if you like Chance the Rapper, G-Easy or Connor Youngblood.

4. Vance Joy - Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at House of Blues Orlando

Vance Joy is nothing new, but that doesn’t mean he’s nothing. Joy’s music falls into the category of contemporary folk music without falling off the radar. His current tour is for his latest album "Dream Your Life Away." Joy often finds fans within the college generation and maybe it is because his songs capture the essence of nostalgia for the youth we’re living right now. His songs often cover themes of love, trials, and maturity. This event would be perfect to attend with close friends or even on a date. His music is comforting and at the same time a new feeling that is sure to encapsulate any concert goer.

Check him out if you like Hozier, The Lumineers or James Bay.

5. Logic – March 28, 2016, at The Beacham Theater

After just releasing his sophomore album, Logic is headed back out on tour. He’s a rap artist that shows musical variety and promising lyrics. Logic is a sometimes overlooked artist and is often painted as aiming to follow the footsteps of Drake or Kendrick Lamar, but his lyrics prove him to be a genius of his own. Logic masterfully combines his striking lyricism with solid beats to make his mark in the rap world. On his newest tour, Logic displays high energy and high hopes and is sure to make attendance worth while.

Check him out if you like Childish Gambino, Chance the Rapper or Mac Miller.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
