5 GOP Presidential Candidate Alternatives To Donald Trump

We are 14 months away from the election. At the beginning of this summer, a dark cloud gathered over the GOP. "Storm Trump," as I have since named it, began its downpour when Trump announced his presidential candidacy in June. While there are a few positives to the Trump candidacy (like an increased level of interest in politics for people who typically might not be, addressing how rehearsed politics have become, challenging other GOP candidates to up their game, etc.) personally I am extremely concerned for the future of the Republican Party and America. Dramatic? Maybe. But the problem starts when I turn on the news every morning and 75 percent of the entire political discussion is centered around Donald Trump. As a concerned citizen, I'm taking matters into my own hands and giving you five GOP candidate alternatives who mirror every aspect you "love" about Donald Trump because we can do better than Trump.

May I repeat: WE CAN DO BETTER, AMERICA

Let's break it down and find you someone better. Someone you deserve.

Looking for Someone Outspoken? Chris Christie is Your Guy

The 55th governor of New Jersey was recently quoted as saying he, "Just thinks the Pope is wrong." Seems pretty outspoken to me...

Bonus: he can bust a move, even in khakis.

Looking For Someone With No Political Background? Dr. Ben Carson at Your Service

Dr. Ben Carson is a retired Johns Hopkins neurosurgeon, an author, and now a politician. Arguably the most intelligent man in the GOP presidential candidate race, he's also known as a very kind and polite man. Having only officially joined the Republican party in 2014, Carson brings an interesting "outsider's view" to the table. Read more about Dr. Carson here.

Looking For Someone Tough On Immigration Policy? Ted Cruz Has Your Back

Ted Cruz is a senator from Texas, and the first Hispanic American to serve as a U.S. senator representing Texas. As the son of a Cuban immigrant, his views on immigration are quite simple: "legal, good, illegal, bad."

Life's a (tea) party.

Looking For Someone Who Agrees to Raising Taxes on Hedge Fund Managers?: Say Hello to Jeb Bush

The 43rd governor of Florida and part of an impressive political dynasty, Bush is paving his own path with proposed policy plans--including one surprising alignment with Mr. Trump: cracking down on hedge fund managers in his tax reform. Bush thinks taxes "should be lower, simpler, fair and clear," a statement we can all agree with.

Whatcha gonna do, hedge fund managers?

Want Someone With a Background in Business? Carly Fiorina is Here For You

A former business executive and current chair on the philanthropic organization GOOD360, Fiorina knows good business strategy. When Fiorina started as CEO at HP, she was the first woman to head a Fortune 20 company. Whoa.

Carly's hungry for a win.

Looking For Someone With Great Hair?

...Sorry can't help you there, the GOP's good hair opted out of a second presidential race.

Sigh.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
