5 Goals to Have for the Fall Semester

When we go to college, or do anything really, we set goals for ourselves. A lot of times these goals may be achievable or not so achievable. Either way, goals are a good way to keep you motivated throughout the semester. This is especially useful when you reach a rough patch during the semester which could be really with anything. With the help of a guy named Spongebob, here are 5 goals to reach for during the semester to keep you positive when things may not be so positive.

1. Strive for a good grade in your classes

During syllabus week, you more than likely will be able to figure out rather quickly what the difficulty level of a class is going to be by the course load itself. This is the time that I like to pick my ideal grade for the class. Throughout the semester this grade you set for yourself may raise or lower a little when your workload is high but don’t sweat it. Many times it’s easy to get stressed out but you still can achieve an awesome grade in your class, even with a few bad grades.

2. Get to know people

This is one of the easiest things to do on campus, as long as you leave your dorm room. Usually meeting one new person leads to meeting a few more, which is especially useful when you are an introvert. Take advantage of opportunities to go hang out with people, because chances are it will be a lot more fun than sitting in your dorm room.

3. Try something new

Whether it be some weird food in the dining hall, a new food or drink from a café on a campus, a club or a new study habit, it’s always good to try something new. If there’s something on campus you want to try, you’re more than likely able to find someone to go with you. It’s fairly easy to find new things you haven’t done before at college because you haven’t lived there your entire life.

4. Make memories

This is one of the reasons why many people go to college in the first place. This is a goal for every semester and not just the fall one. Go do things and make memories because time flies faster than you think. One day you start college and the next it’s over.

5. Stay positive

It’s so easy to lose your positivity when you do bad on a test, get in a fight with a friend or just have a bad day. Don’t lose all of your positivity over one thing though. You can always redeem yourself from one bad test grade by studying harder on the next one. You need the positivity to get through the entire semester because chances are it won’t be a walk in the park. Regardless, being positive makes life so much easier when things get a little rough.

There are so many goals you can make for yourself but this short list will help you start off on a good note this semester!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
