Don't get me wrong, I love America and our gymnasts in Rio. They are extremely talented and hard working young women, but there are others who are not American that could easily medal at the Olympics in an individual event or all around competition.

Since there is a two per country rule for every event, America can not make a clean sweep in any event, so here are the incredibly talented women who can make an impact.

1. Gulia Steingruber of Sweden:

Steingruber is experienced internationally, and has placed in big competitions. The 22-year-old is the 2016 floor exercise and vault European champion, and she won the all-around at the 2015 European championships. It will be exciting to watch her at her second Olympics since she is more refined, and has added difficulty since the 2012 Olympics.

Here she is on the floor exercise at the 2016 European Championships where she scored a 15.2 to take the gold.

2. Sanne Wevers from The Netherlands:

The Netherlands have already made history by qualifying as a team to the Olympics for the first time since the 1970's. Under the leadership of Sanne and her twin sister Lieke Wevers, they have soared to new heights.

Sanne has been on the international scene for almost a decade, but she has become a force in the past few years. Her beam routine is impressive because she makes it look easy and has a lot of difficulty from dance which is different than the favorite to win. Simone Biles who relies on her power, but still very impressive.

Here is her 15.650 routine from Dutch Nationals this year:

3. Rebecca Downie from Great Britain:

Downie was on the 2008 Olympic team and an alternate for the 2012 team, she has returned this year as a leader for Great Britain. She is a bars and beam specialist, and does not disappoint on either event. Her bar routine is packed with power and high flying release moves. If she hits, I would be surprised if she does not medal.

Take a look at her 2016 gold medal bar routine from the European Championships:

4. Maria Paseka from Russia:

Paseka is a veteran of international competition for Russia. She was on the 2012 Olympic team and has won international events. In fact, she won the gold medal for vault in 2015. She beat great vaulters, like Simone Biles and Hung Un Jong from South Korea.

5. Flavia Saravia from Brazil

Tiny Saravia is amazing on the balance beam. She is new to the international scene, but is fairly consistent in competition and will be fun to watch on floor as well. She is an expressive gymnast.

Honorable Mentions:

Of course there are many other names that could be on this list. So many people have worked so hard to get to the Olympics. Here are a couple of people to still watch for in the qualification round and maybe even event finals!

Dipa Karmakar from India: She is India's first Olympic female gymnast.

Aliya Mustafina of Russia: Mustafina is a great leader for the team and could medal on an event or two.

Catalina Ponor: Ponor is a veteran from Romania. Although Romania did not qualify as a team, she did so as an individual and should not disappoint!

I hope everyone enjoys the Olympics as much as I will! Good luck to all and go USA!

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.

Moms are super heroes dressed in yesterday's clothing and they deserve an award for that.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.
