Tampa, FL is all about the Bull Pride, but what about around the country? Turns out, USF Bulls are everywhere, and some of them have made it big time! Here’s a list of 5 notaBULL people who went to USF:

1. Hulk Hogan

Semi-retired professional wrestler Hulk Hogan wasn’t always a superstar. Before his glory days in the ring, he was Terrence Gene Bollea, a student at Hillsborough Community College, and later USF! During his time in Tampa, he also had an interest in music. You can read more about him here.

2. Philip DeFranco

Before he was a legendary YouTube sensation, this guy was just Philip Franchini. His father, who lived in Tampa, always encouraged him to stay in school, but ultimately determined that YouTube was his passion. He did, however, attend USF for a period of time while figuring out the right life path for him, ultimately adapting the screen name Philip Defranco. You can read more about him here.

3. Kerry Sanders

American journalist Kerry Sanders knew from a young age that he wanted to go into news. He worked at several Florida TV stations before ultimately continuing on to work for NBC. A graduate of USF, this reporter has made a name for himself. Some of his most notable coverage has been during the big storms such as hurricanes Andrew, Ivan, and Katrina. You can read more on him here.

4. Aasif Mandvi

Indian-American actor and comedian Aasif Mandvi made USF a key part in shaping his career. He graduated with a degree in Theatre and got his first job at Disney. He then moved to New York, where he was cast in a few off-broadway musicals. He later went into TV, making appearances on ER, Sex & The City, CSI, and most notably, The Daily Show. You can read more about him here.

5. Tamsen Fadal

Tamsen Fadal is a television personality, four-time Emmy awarding winning journalist, author, and entrepreneur who got her start in broadcasting shortly after she graduated USF with a degree in journalism. She has since moved to New York, written three books, and is the executive producer and host of Broadway Profiles, a nationally syndicated show. You can read more about her here.

When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
