Waking up early in the morning is already a struggle for most college students, so breakfast is easily forgotten or seen as not important enough.

We either have no time to go to the dining hall before class to grab something to eat or we don't have enough swipes. That's why I always have breakfast in my dorm room before going off to my morning classes.

If you only have a micro-fridge for a kitchen, you have to get a bit creative, but also keep it simple. Here are five simple, easy and healthy breakfast options that you can eat as you get ready for class in the morning or bring along with you to your first class.

1. Overnight Oats

As you're getting ready for bed, you can quickly prepare some overnight oats for breakfast the next morning. All you need is a mason jar and fill it with oats and your choice of milk. I add in chia seeds, fruit, chocolate chips and/or yogurt some days to switch it up. There are lots of recipes for overnight oats that will fit what flavors everyone likes.

2. Yogurt

It sounds simple, but yogurt is a great breakfast food to have that you don't have to think about at all. You can always add some fruit to it or granola to make it more substantial.

3. Chia Seed Pudding

It is one of the more "adventurous" options for breakfast, but like the overnight oats, it just has a few main ingredients: Chia seeds, banana and your choice of milk. Then, you can customize your chia seed pudding to your liking with different fruits and flavors.

4. Fruit Salad

Another simple idea that's a great option during the beginning of fall, spring and the summer when fruit is local and fresh. If you don't have time to go to the store to get fruit, bring some back to your room from the dinning hall and save it for the next morning.

5. Smoothies

Making smoothies does require having a blender, but there are so many individual-sized blenders that it really won't take up any room in your dorm room. Smoothies are a great way to start off the day and easy to bring along to class if you don't have time to drink it as you get ready.

So, ditch the boring granola bar and try one of these options for your next breakfast.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
