5 Disney Women Who Deserve To Be A Princess

Because there's more to a princess than a crown.

5 Disney Women Who Deserve To Be A Princess
Disney Princess

Ahhh, the Disney Princess. Who doesn't love a good Disney Princess? The current royal line up is fantastic, and don't get me wrong, I love all of those ladies immensely, but I feel like as perfect as the line up is it needs a couple more women to fully round it out. Now before we get into this list there are a few important points that must be met in order to be welcomed into this elite group. Number One: you must have a primary role in your story. Number Two: you must be mostly human (that one was made for everybody's favorite Little Mermaid). Number Three: you cannot be introduced in a sequel (sorry Melody). And finally: you must be either born royal, marry into royalty, or complete an act of heroism (that one was because of Mulan).

The current line-up involves (in chronological order) Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan, Tiana, Rapunzel and Merida. Please note that our favorite Frozen ladies will most likely not be inducted into the Princess Brand because they make the Disney Company way too much money to be transferred over to the group.

So without further ado: in no particular order, the women who deserve to be accepted into the Disney Princess line-up.

1. Nani from Disney's "Lilo and Stitch."

Our first lady is the 19-year-old sister of little Lilo who has to balance taking care of her little sister, taking care of a house and trying to find a job after the untimely death of their parents. Now, this is hands down one of the most realistic characters we see in a Disney movie and she is given such depth and character that isn't seen in most main characters. Her fight to take care of her sister and to prove that she is a fit guardian for her is such a struggle that you automatically sympathize with her. Not to mention she was one of the first leading characters who was drawn with a more realistic body type, she has curves, and seeing a character with this body type being such a great hero in her movie is a great thing for little girls to be able to see and grow up with. Nani completes an act of heroism by always being there for her little sister no matter what crazy aliens or problems that come into their lives. That's why Disney needs to welcome this wonderful young woman into their elite group of heroic women.

2. Kida from Disney's "Atlantis: The Lost Empire."

Kida here is an actual princess of a lost civilization, and to be completely honest she has a lot of the best qualities of a lot of the princesses. She's incredibly smart like Belle, speaking countless languages, she's adventurous like Pocahontas, climbing mountains and being able to ride those cool fish robot flyers with, and most importantly she is a great swimmer, just like Ariel. Not to mention she literally sacrifices herself in order to protect her people, which is so beautiful because of how much she loves her people that she would actually give up her life for them. That's two out of the three final qualifiers, come on Disney, welcome her in.

3. Esmerelda from Disney's "The Hunchback of Notre Dame."

She's easily one of Disney's sexier women, but like a great hero that doesn't define who she is. She's a strong-willed Gypsy woman who will fight for the defenseless and voiceless such as Quasimodo and her people. Not to mention she helped stop the genocide of the Gypsy people. She fights better than trained soldiers, saves the life of Phoebus, saves Quasimodo from the injustice and the evils of people and shows him the good and beauty in the world, and probably most importantly, she blindfolds Djali's eyes when Quasi is taking them down the side of Notre Dame. How nice is that? All in all, Esmerelda is a total badass who deserves to join the ranks of the Disney Princesses because who else can say that they saved the lives of thousands of people? If that's not a heroic deed I don't know what is.

4. Meg from Disney's "Hercules."

Hands down the sassiest lady on this list. Meg has an interesting story considering the fact that she starts off as a villain, but she doesn't let that define who she is and she ends up rallying Hercules into stopping the apocalypse. Plus technically she is a royal, if you think about it, she (probably) marries Herc which makes her family with the Gods, and the Greek Gods are pretty much the ultimate royal family.

5. Jane from Disney's "Tarzan."

Rounding out this list is maybe the most intelligent of the Disney ladies. Jane is an artistic animal and plant researcher who falls in love with Tarzan. Jane shows the good of humanity while the villain, Clayton, shows the greed and other bad traits. Not to mention that without Jane, Tarzan would have never been able to fully protect his gorilla family which means that she helped keep these majestic animals off the endangered species list for a couple more years. If saving the lives of countless innocent gorillas isn't heroic, then I don't know what is.

So ladies and gents, there you have it. My list of the top five women who deserve to be allowed into the ultimate Disney clique. They all have shown immense strength of character and heart and the Princess line-up would be very lucky to include them.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
