The 5 Coziest Clothing Trends

As the weather turns colder, I find it harder and harder to get out of bed in the mornings. I am someone who enjoys dressing up and looking nice, and the cold is my greatest battle. Every morning, I am faced with whether or not I want to look fashionable or wear my comforter out of the dorm. The following are a few pieces that I think make it easier to get dressed in the morning.

1. The blanket scarf

All the comfort in these oversized beauties is in the name. They are literally just small blankets that are perfect to wrap, fold, and twist around yourself when all you need is a security blanket on the streets. And in my personal opinion, they can look pretty fabulous.

2. Joggers

The sweat pant is taking the fashion world by storm with the sleek and easy shape of the jogger. Brands have made joggers in everything from classic sport materials to silks. The slim leg of these pants give a shockingly flattering shape, but maintain the cozy aspects of wearing sweats. Toss them on with a pair of sneakers and a T if you don’t have anywhere special to go, or throw on some pumps and a blazer to look a little more polished.

3. Fleece lined leggings

Leggings are a controversial topic in the clothing world, but lets just skip out on that argument and not call them “real” pants. Whatever they qualify as, leggings are unbelievably comfortable. Add some soft material to the inside and they are basically heaven for your legs. They can also be easily paired with tunics or long sweaters to make their tight fit more comfortable on those who don’t love letting it all show in skintight stretch fabrics.

4. A Cape Coat

A cape coat is basically a fashionable cocoon. Don’t want to put your arms through the holes? Don’t! Just stay inside and keep all the warmth to yourself. They are a pretty chic frock, and can be worn with any form of attire. But lets face it: it’s just a blanket with armholes.

5. Knit headbands

My mother has never hesitated to remind me that tons of body heat can escape through your ears. Beanies are a well-loved item, but certain outfits just don’t work with them. Or you could be like me, and just not be able to pull them off. The trend of knit headbands has been my saving grace, and it might just be your savior too.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
