As you probably know, as a student at Marist, you pretty much have to be involved in some club if you want decent housing in the future. You probably know the big ones such as Habitat for Humanity, Campus Ministry, and Booster Club. However, these clubs aren't for everyone. Clubs are supposed to be fun, and since we have to participate in them as Marist students, you may as well try to attend meetings for a club you actually enjoy. It seems that there are many clubs at our school that most students don't know about. Here is a list of a few that you've probably never even heard of.
Pre-Vet Club
I found this one to be the most obscure. I didn't even know Marist had a program leading students toward veterinary school. Marist tends to promote its three most popular majors (business, fashion, and communications), so most people have probably never heard of this club. However, it strives to connect those interested in veterinary medicine, create networks for students, and provide hands-on experiences, helping better prepare them for veterinary school.
Red Ink
This club focuses on spreading concepts and ideas of art to all Marist students. It wants students to cultivate their own creativity by doing crafts. The club was created as an outlet for those who may not encounter art in their every day lives or may not have the chance to take an art class throughout their educational career.
Fox P.A.W. (People for Animal Welfare)
A club dedicated to raising awareness of the mistreatment of animals, this is another one that many people may not have heard of, but would be thrilled to participate in. This club coordinates volunteer services, and provides students the opportunity to help and work with local animals. Just reading the first paragraph on the website for this club made me want to join it.SEED: Students Encouraging Dedication
Addressing a very important issue today, this club aims to make students aware of "local and environmental concerns." Club members fundraise so that they can donate money to organizations that take steps to preserve the natural environment.
Generator Magazine
Because its name doesn't seem to have anything to do with Marist or foxes, you may not have known that the Generator Magazine was an organization that you, as a student, can become a part of. In addition, it looks for more than just writers. This club aims to enhance the skills of students in the field of communication in writing, graphic design, magazine editing, and many more areas through the production of a magazine. It is very welcoming to new members and just about anyone can join.
These are only a few of the interesting clubs Marist has to offer. Here is the link with complete list of not only clubs, but club sports teams, honor societies, and Greek life: Complete lists of clubs at Marist.
