Five Celebrities Who Shot Back At Presidential Candidate Donald Trump

Donald Trump is a celebrity known for his mass enterprise, resort hotels, reality TV shows, and now his run for President of the United States. When Trump announced that he would be running to be the leader of the free world, he made several racist remarks that deeply offended the American people. In regards to immigration Trump stated, "When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re sending people that have lots of problems. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists." This statement is just one of the many bigoted and racist comments I'm sure we will hear from Mr. Trump during his race. Celebrities immediately fired back at the billionaire, in order to show that his racist remarks and narrow-minded values will not be tolerated in this election.

1. Eva Longoria

The Mexican American actress took to social media to express her disapproval with Trump's comment regarding people of her nationality. Longoria was quoted in an interview stating, "What I think he doesn't understand and what people don't understand is words create emotional poison. …Hitler moved a nation with words, just words....So you have to expect this backlash. If you say something like that, as he has said, you must expect a backlash."

2. Becky G

Mexican-American singer, Becky G, immediately fired back at Trump with her new song "We Are Mexico" and even tagged him with the link on Twitter. Becky G tweeted, after her song began trending on Twitter, "When I say us I don't just mean the Latin community. I did this for everyone who came to this country for a better life."

3. Ricky Martin

The Latino singer has announced he will no longer be having his Ricky Martin Foundation charity golf tournament at the Trump International Golf Club Rio Grande in Puerto Rico. In response to his decision to not step foot on any Trump grounds, Martin replied that it was an act of "solidarity for basic human rights and in support of the Latin-American community."

4. Shakira

The Colombian singer was outraged after hearing the racist comments made by Trump and took to Twitter, tweeting "This is a hateful and racist speech that attempts to divide a country that for years has promoted diversity and democracy!" Shakira then posted a link with the video of Trump's announcement for candidacy with the comment, "No one living in this century should stand behind so much ignorance."

5. NBCUniversal

NBC has announced they will no longer air Trump's Miss USA Pageant on their Network. In response to their decision a representative of the Netowork stated, "Due to the recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBCUniversal is ending its business relationship with Mr. Trump." Most of the entertainment for the pageant, which included singers such as Flo Rida, are no longer performing on the show. In addition, the judges for the pageant, which included Jessie James Decker, Terrence Jenkins, Emmitt Smith and TV host and former Miss Universe winner Zuleyka Rivera, all have decided to not join the cast, with the exception of Jesse James Decker.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register.
