These carrots have legs and aspirations.

Just as every person has a story, every vegetable has a story, and I truly believe this. Think I'm joking? Walk into any supermarket and hit up the produce aisle. You'll feel what I mean. There's an energy there, almost indescribable, that hints at something more for the vegetables on the shelf. I feel like vegetables are another one of humanity's great-unknowns, right up there with deep space and the depths of the ocean. I'm shocked that no one has looked into this yet, so I took it upon myself to observe a few carrots in the store and record my findings. Some were quite interesting and surprisingly similar to me and to people I have met before. Take a look at snapshots of carrot life, and see for yourself that there is a little bit of carrot in all of us.

1. Leisurely, Artistic Carrot

This carrot is having a nice, relaxing day off of work today. He is thinking about buying a calligraphy pen online.

2. Ambitious, Dreamer Carrot

This carrot is an aspiring model who spends her time watching "America's Next Top (Carrot) Model." She loves the earlier seasons, but will still watch the newer stuff, too.

3. Childhood BFF Carrots

Here is a pair of BFF carrots. They are bouncers at the club, and they are not going to let you in. (Sorry, only carrots allowed.)

4. Overprotective Carrot

This carrot is absolutely livid. His son went out with some friends tonight and isn't back yet even though it's after his curfew. This carrot will wait by the door just like this: leaning on the doorframe, legs crossed, disapproving expression.

5. Nervous Carrot

This carrot's name is Stephanie. She's in the middle, and this is her first sleepover. She had a great time, but now it is the morning and she is the first one awake. She has to pee so bad, but she's afraid to move because she might wake her friends up. Stephanie is very considerate. Stephanie contorts her body into this painful position so she doesn't end up wetting herself. We've all been there, Stephanie.

As you can see, every carrot has something going on in his or her life. It's easy to get caught up in your own life because you're busy and have a lot going on, but your personal business doesn't mean that your life is the only life or that other lives pause when your life doesn't overlap with theirs. Although it is easy to ignore others, please try to be conscious of other people. Respect other people. Respect other carrots. Make sure you get a lot of vitamin A.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
