45 Signs You Went To Nerinx Hall
Hannah Thebeau

Nerinx Hall High School in St. Louis made me into the woman I am today and I am so incredibly proud to say that this is my alma mater. The people I have met here have become my best friends and the experiences and wisdom I have gained at the Hall have changed my life. Here are some signs that you were a proud Marker too:

1. "We Are One Body" is your jam.

2. Hey Day is the best day of the year.

3. Class Day always comes way too fast and is the saddest day of the year.

4. Cafeteria cookies. Enough said.

5. SHOUT Week is the best week because you get to buy cute and yummy stuff while giving money to charity, but you end up with zero money at the end of the week.

6. Making it from the cave to the theatre building in time for your next class is the biggest accomplishment.

7. Waiting for senior lunch is torture. Who waits until 1:10 p.m. to eat lunch?

8. Nothing is more competitive than Founder's Day.

9. Mil dogs are the best lunch.

10. Taking all AP classes junior and senior year and wondering why you would put yourself through this hell.

11. Staying after school is incredibly fun.

12. Foreign exchange weeks are the best weeks because everyone is confused and excited about the foreign boys.

13. Trying to hide the fact that your sweater is creme and not white so that you don't get a detention.

14. "This class is boring, I'm gonna take a lap."

15. Snagging the couches in the theatre lobby for free period is the best accomplishment because it is the ideal napping location.

16. Extra late start Wednesdays were the best days of the year.

17. Even as a senior, you still don't know the late start Wednesday schedule.

18. Always being the last to be called off for a snow day.

19. Just kidding you probably had school while every other school was called off.

20. Feeling left out while your freshman friends at other schools post pictures of their homecoming dances because you weren't allowed to go.

21. The torture that is FAST Class.

22. Father/Daughter is better than any other dance during the year and finally getting your "Nerinx Grad" hat is the happiest and saddest moment of your life.

23. "Who rocks the house?"

24. The Faculty Show is the best assembly all year.

25. Closely followed by Quiz Bowl.

26. Raffle ticket turn in day is incredibly stressful because everyone wants prom day off.

27. Popping into the English or Tech Offices for the free candy.

28. Avoiding the sophomore bathroom because it always smells weird.

29. The printers can sense your stress because they never work when you need them to.

30. Your heart died inside when they changed the green carpet to blue.

31. Being terrified that a teacher would catch you eating in the hallway.

32. No one sits normally. Like ever.

33. "Does anyone have a tamp?"

34. Brushing your hair isn't a thing. And you probably haven't showered in a couple of days either. Because who care about looking decent?

35. No one respects personal space. Because a lap is better than a chair and sometimes a person just needs to cuddle in the middle of the hallway.

36. It's a right of passage to play Super Tux as a freshman.

37. "What letter day is it?"

38. The Lockwood House has the best water in the entire school.

39. Open campus is hands down the best senior privilege.

40. "Just another day in paradise!"

41. Yes, Jenna Fischer from "The Office" went here. Be jealous.

42. Our mascot is a marker. At first it's weird, but by senior year you wouldn't want to be anything else.

43. Being terrified of finding your classes freshman year but then realizing that campus is really just a giant square.

44. Nice days were the best because everyone ate lunch outside.

45. Knowing that even though you graduated, these girls are more than just your best friends. They're your sisters. #149

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
