Some call it a midlife crisis, others call it teenage angst. Either way, everyone will go through a time in their life where they aren’t exactly sure of who they are and who they want to be. The question is though, how do we get past this identity crisis?
You give yourself a breather. Dedicate one day to yourself and figure out your identity. Here’s how:
1. Wake up early
You have a big day ahead of yourself; start fresh and renewed. Many people get frustrated with themselves when they sleep in too late, so have your day of you start on a positive note.
2. What makes you happy?
Identify these things and make them the focal point of your life. Just make sure that the ideas you come up with are not materialistic and are feasible.
3. Make sure you have surrounded yourself with good people
You have admitted to yourself that you are having an identity crisis, so make sure the people in your life are those who will support positive changes and who bring out the best in you.
4. Try to remember the person you are meant to be
You weren’t always having an identity crisis. Try to remember who you are meant to be, try to remember the best possible version of yourself. Use that best version of you as your role model rather than the superficial faces we see on magazines and television.
There you have it: four of the best ways to find yourself. After all, William Ernest Henley said it best.
“I am the master of my fate / I am the captain of my soul.”
You will find yourself, and you will become the best you.
