4 Things You Can Do to Keep a Positive Mindset Amid COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected not only the physical health of the people but also their mental health. It is hard to stay optimistic due to the tragic things that the pandemic has brought to the world. Many had admitted that the recent situation had plummeted their mental health.

Even the most optimistic person will find it hard to stay positive after the pandemic broke out. However, having a positive mindset can help in coping with the crisis. Now is the perfect time to create moments and nurture happiness to survive the pandemic.

Have a Good Support System

Going through hardships is a part of life. That's why most people want someone who will listen to them, understand them, and comfort them. This is the best time to have a strong and good support system.

It has been proven that having a good support system has many benefits, such as better coping skills, a higher-level sense of well-being, and a healthier life. Social support also reduces the risk of anxiety and depression. This method can be really helpful, especially now that the pandemic contributed to a higher number of mental health problems.

Some people do well in a large group, while others do well in a small one. Start with being close to the people already in your social circle. These people can include immediate family members and close friends. Additionally, get closer to people who can help you have a healthy and positive outlook during the pandemic.

Moreover, don't hesitate to share your thoughts and feelings with a family member or a friend. Maintain this kind of relationship with those people and build a strong support system, even after the pandemic. Also, listen to them whenever they feel down. Having a give and take relationship will strengthen your bond with one another.

Additionally, limit contact with people who are toxic and pessimistic. These people include drug abusers, liars, blamers, alcoholics, and those who do nothing but bring you down. These people can drain your energy and poison your mind to think negatively.

Raise Your Vibration

Even if you do not have a concrete understanding and definition of vibration, you most certainly feel it. It is a state of being, energy, and atmosphere of a person. It is the vibe that people around you will get if you are around.

It's undeniable that people are not living their best lives now, especially with the pandemic going around. To uplift your mood and make your desires happen, you have to raise your vibration. Raising your vibration is an essential element to make the Law of Attraction work. If you do not have a high vibration, you will find difficulty aligning your desires.

Low vibration attracts a low-level lifestyle. Desperation, anxiety, and depression can develop under these circumstances. These feelings are the last things you want to feel during this pandemic. Your mind, body, and balance should be in harmony, which means you should raise your vibration.

If you vibrate at a higher level, you will feel lighter, happier, and more at ease. You can start by being grateful to people who helped you, even in their small ways. Give love to people, as it has the power to pull you out from dark thoughts. You can amplify your sense of awareness by doing meditation.

Limit Information Intake

It is good to be updated about what is happening with the world. However, there is a thing as "having too much news." It is easy to get lost in the news- from clicking one article, leading to another related article. Spending hours on the phone while reading news articles can take a toll on your mental health.

Despite the huge amount of information circulating, there remains the uncertainty of when the pandemic will end. This uncertainty adds up to the stress and anxiousness that you usually feel after reading the news. This uncertainty also fosters anxiety and depression for those with mental health problems.

One thing you can do is to mute keywords or phrases that you do not want to show up in your feed or timeline. Moreover, minimize your phone usage. Only use your phone for a quick peek on the news in the morning or afternoon. Use the remaining time to watch other entertaining shows or distract yourself from the bad things happening.

Do Random Acts of Kindness

Random acts of kindness help nurture your well-being. Kindness is linked to contentment and happiness, spiritually, and psychologically. It promotes gratitude, empathy, and compassion, which leads to a sense of connection with other people. When you feel connected with others, you will feel a sense of belongingness and community. These feelings will help you keep a positive mindset during the pandemic.

Doing acts of kindness does not mean you have to spend a lot of money to help others for the sake of fulfilling yourself. Kindness can be giving a tip or small token of appreciation to the person who's helping you out- be it a loved one or a person who delivers your orders. Another simple act is by saying a simple "thank you" to anyone who has done something good for you, no matter how small that act is.

Takeaway

By doing things to stay optimistic during this pandemic, you can change your brain's framework, which can help you cope with what's happening around you. Take charge of your mental health and stay away from anything that can harm you and your psyche. With the right support and self-care, you can stay positive amid the pandemic.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
