Things to remember during the holiday season:

1. The time for giving.

You may be seeing a lot of great deals on things that you would love, but your family and friends might realize that you would love those things as well, so be very cautious to purchase things for yourself. On the other hand, there are many people that might not have such generous celebrations like those of you and your family. We tend to get very wrapped up in obtaining the best clothes and gadgets around, that we fail to see that others don’t have it as good as we do. So, take a moment to be a good Samaritan and donate your change or your old clothes or toys. Give to those who need it most.

2. Be thankful.

As said above, it’s so easy to become wrapped up in the materialistic nature of the holidays, that we can honestly become brats. We always want the best of everything and the most of it. We fail to see the all the good that we DO have and find ourselves focusing on what we DON’T have. Look around, you have family and friends who love and care about you. You have a place to live and clothes to keep you warm. You have food on the table. Be thankful for all that you have during this holiday season, others don’t have it so lucky.

3. Love yourself.

During this season, it may become very stressful. You spend so much time worrying about making other people happy, you might forget to love yourself. Also, you will be surrounded by tons of amazing foods and winter will give you a hibernating attitude, so you may feel regret for cheating on your diet and skipping a few days at the gym. No fear; you will be able to work those pounds off again after the new year. (Isn’t that everyone’s New Year Resolution anyway?) Ultimately, you should feel beautiful no matter what and love yourself, always.

4. Embrace it.

I have to be completely honest, I catch myself feeling the seasonal blues sprinkled with a little bah-humbug. But the best way to cope is to embrace it all! Decorate your kitchen table with a cornucopia for Thanksgiving, sing those cliché Christmas songs and drink all the spiked eggnog you can handle! Enjoy it while it lasts, it will be over soon!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
