Thanksgiving is the holiday where all tasting and listening happens. Here are four of my favorite Thanksgiving songs to get me in the turkey mood!
1. "Mashed Potato Time" by Dee Dee Sharp
Fun Fact: Dee Dee Sharp became the first black female teen idol in the 60's.
2. "Sweet Potato Pie" Ray Charles ft. James Taylor
3. George Winston's "Thanksgiving"
Winston's best-selling albums: Autumn, December, Winter Into Spring, Summer, Forests, and Plains. These albums feature pleasant melodies that relaxes anyone who likes piano pieces.
4. "Thanksgiving Theme" by Vince Guaraldi
One of the many songs Guaraldi plays in the 1973 TV Special "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving."
Finally, I would also like to share a Thanksgiving poem by one of my favorite poems of all time, Emily Dickinson.
Emily Dickinson, 1830-1886
One day is there of the series
Termed "Thanksgiving Day"
Celebrated part at table
Part in memory -
Neither Ancestor nor Urchin
I review the Play -
Seems it to my Hooded thinking
Reflex Holiday
Had There been no sharp subtraction
From the early Sum -
Not an acre or a Caption
Where was once a Room
Not a mention whose small Pebble
Wrinkled any Sea,
Unto such, where such Assembly,
'Twere "Thanksgiving Day"
HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!
