I will write a story of hope--not for the thoughtless, but for the thoughtful. For those that can't seem to find peace of mind in those pieces of mind called memories. For those that second guess what has already been determined. For those that undermine the lesson being learned, the ones that can't see past the learning curve. This one is for you. The ones that think everything happens for a reason, but understands man made up the names for the seasons. Who knows that with God there will always be something to believe in. This one is for you.
1.Wanting a better life should simply begin with being content with what you already have. This includes allowing the present to fully cement itself into your memory so that you may be able to move on in the future with a clearer purpose. If things aren't going as planned, then try and understand that perhaps it wasn't meant for you to travel that path.
2. Don't want better because of temporary failure or dislike, want better because it will indeed create better. We have lost our appreciation of the little things. If something isn't automatically enhancing your experience then it is no good and it must be "innovated." (Let's make everything cooler, faster, and more complex so that we can spend our entire life complaining about how it can be better.) Makes perfect sense... I think not!
3. The quote speaks for itself. But let's use weight loss as an example. Many of us constantly worry and obsess over our weight. Conversations usually beginning with "If I could lose (x amount of) pounds I would be happier", or "If I looked like (inserts name here) my life would be great", or even "I will start feeling more confident and love myself more once I lose the weight." If you haven't said it yourself then you may have heard it from someone else you personally know. By focusing only on the results you put extreme stress on yourself to either accomplish those goals at an accelerated rate, or to consider yourself a failure when you don't immediately see a change. This is neither healthy nor realistic. No matter how many times you mouth the words or wish it into existence, nothing will happen until you take the step (any step) to make a change. And no matter what path you chose to take on that journey, (whether it be dieting, exercise, fasting, supplements, etc.) you had to make the conscious decision to do something different. It is only then when you continually go through the steps, and live in that change that you begin to see results. Life in general is about gradual change, and no amount of technology should steer us away from this thinking.
4. Good Decisions : Great People. :: Good Dreams : Great Future. Have you ever found yourself in a sticky situation asking, "Well what do you want me to do?" or, "What do you want me to say?" Would you believe me if I told you we have been programmed to think this way. We constantly want to be told how to think, feel, and act because it is almost impossible to decide what's actually right in today's society, and let's keep it real; no one wants to be wrong. I was fortunate to have grown up in a generation where things were much simpler. For a short period of time I was able to live in a world where smart phones did not exist, where phones were just phones, and kids were just kids. But that's been stolen from us, from the world. Everyone and I mean EVERYONE, is being exposed to everything, and no one knows how to handle it because we keep talking about all the wrong things. When was the last time you talked about your dreams? Not the achievements wrapped up in materialistic things, but real dreams. Ones that can inspire others to do great things, dreams that can change the world with meaning, dreams that would make you happy beyond your wildest belief. We sincerely stopped dreaming. It hit me one night when I was tossing and turning from lack of sleep. When my mind was too preoccupied with nightmares coming to life. It hit me. No one cares to dream. No one cares at all anymore, it seems. Every time I turn around there is disaster, there is death, there is destruction. All of this commotion causing fear. It hit me. People are scared to dream. To dream is to want something so big that you can only see it with your eyes closed. We let reality take away our dreams. We let technology take away our dreams. We told ourselves that we refuse to be sleep, but we stopped looking at history to create a future of "what it could be" positively. Instead we changed our perceptions to violence and action because that's what's happening on TV. If I see it then it must be true. Right? So I have to believe there is danger around every corner, bursting at every seam. Small minded survival skills started overcoming creativity and love. No thought going into actions, so we get stuck in the same patterns thinking it's normal to get a mansion from selling sex, distrust, and drugs. We've become pretentious, forgetting there were geniuses before Google, CNN, and primetime. Technology is taking away our peace of mind, and becoming life to people with no lives. If you disagree that's okay, but we can all see the proof, you can't ignore the signs. It's time to dream again, with eyes open wide.
