As I participated in recruitment my freshman year at Mizzou, at times I seemed to have the same conversations with girls at different houses. Some of the repetitive ones were about my major or what I did that summer.
To be quite honest with you, those conversations bored me to the point where I felt like I was watching paint dry. Eventually there was a beacon of hope for me.
At one house, I remember I had one of the best conversations during recruitment. That conversation was (drum roll please) about game days.
Before I came to Mizzou, I wasn’t familiar with SEC game days. Sure my older sister gave me the gist of it which was you dress up nice. But this conversation I had during recruitment really opened my eyes to what you actually need for a game day. Now ladies, I’m talking about what type of dress, shoes, and accessories you need to wear. This angel of a sorority girl gave me the ins and outs of what’s best and what’s not.
The four essentials I believe every lady at Mizzou needs for a game day are:
1. Black Dress
I'm sorry ladies there is no excuse for not having a black dress. You NEED this if you want to look the part for a game day. Also it should be black because hello school colors? The dress can be short and loose so you can do a nice little twirl in it. But hey, if you want to start your own trend it can be black and form-fitting.
2. Cowgirl Boots
This is just a given now. It’s SEC dress code to wear cowgirl boots on a game day. Usually I prefer to have my boots be a tan color because they go with Mizzou’s colors, but do whatever floats your boat.
3. Sunglasses
Sunglasses are beneficial for numerous reasons on game days. One, they block that hot Missouri sun out of your eyes. Two, it can hide the bags under your eyes from that late night out. And three, it gives a stylish touch to your outfit. Feel free to wear whatever pair of sunglasses that brings out the best shape in your face.
4. School Accessory
For a final touch to your game day outfit, put on an accessory that screams: You go to Mizzou! Personally I love to wear my tiger ears or a Mizzou sticker on my face. However, you can wear a bow, necklace, or anything that you think states to our rival, “Welcome to the Zou.”
