Montrose is one of the many city centers in the suburbs of Akron. There's many strings of restaurants and different shops, so here's a list with the four best places to eat when you're in the area:
1. Sakura
This restaurant is very near and dear to my heart. The main attraction for Sakura is the sushi--nigiri, sashimi, maki, or temaki; the selection is endless and the rolls are made up of inventive combinations. The sushi chefs are passionate and work hard to create beautiful plates for the customers. If you don't like sushi, there's plenty of food that comes fully cooked from the kitchen and a large selection of sake (even sake flights!), wine, beer, and cocktails. There are also specials on select days throughout the week: on Mondays regular maki rolls are $4, on Tuesdays house wines (Yellowtail) are $4 a glass, on Saturday mornings all checks are 10 percent off, and on Sundays select pieces of sushi and sashmi are $4 an order. This place is truly a hidden gem in the Montrose area!
2. Aladdin's Eatery
"Eat good. Eat healthy" is a quote you'll find on Aladdin's website and menus. This restaurant is also very near and dear to my heart—I wish there were more places that offered such a wide selection of healthy foods and drinks. Upon reading the menu, you may be thrown off by names you may not have seen before, but buck up and be adventurous, because you will not regret it once you taste any one of the items. Their v-9 soup (soup with nine different kinds of veggies), hummus with hot sauce, cranberry walnut salad, and arayiss pitza (with minced falafel instead of ground beef) are some of my favorites. They also offer freshly squeezed juices and gluten-free and organic beers. This is a must-try place.
3. The RAIL
Looking to get a good burger? The RAIL is one of my favorite places to do so—mainly because their veggie burger is one of the best tasting I've ever had. You also have to order the sweet potato fries; you'd be remiss if you didn't. The resrautant also has an awesome selection of different beers brewed right here in Ohio, but if that doesn't interest you they also have a full bar. Next time you're craving a burger, you know where to go.
4. (Coming Soon) Bomba
Tacos and rum anyone?! (Who would ever say no that that offer....?) "BOMBA is devoted to purposely creating food that shows our customers we care about quality and nutrition." This place is going to be opening right next to Sakura and offers a huge selection of tacos, appetizers, and drinks. There's also some irresistable specials offered during happy hour like $5 mojitos, $5 off rum flights, and $3 chips and salsa. I cannot wait to enjoy this new atmosphere!
