37 Thoughts You Have While Watching The Summer Olympics

I love Olympic years. I'm not sure if I like the summer games or winter games more, but I am glued to the TV regardless of the season. I have lots of thoughts and comments while watching the games that I feel are pretty universal. Do you think the same things while watching?

1. I don’t think I would watch swimming any other time of year, but now I can’t miss it.

2. How are some of these people only 16? I feel so unaccomplished.

3. Are we sure they’re only 16? They look more like they’re 12; can I see a birth certificate, please?

4. MICHAEL PHELPS WON ANOTHER GOLD!!!!!

5. And another one.

6. And another one!

7. Is he even human?

8. His baby is so cute!

9. Ryan Seacrest is an announcer here, too?

10. Why does he do everything?

11. OK, beach volleyball time.

12. I think I’m in love with Kerri Walsh Jennings, is that weird?

13. Every time you hear them say Copacabana Beach, do you start singing the Copacabana song, or is that just me?

14. HOW DO THEY MAKE BEACH VOLLEYBALL LOOK SO EASY?

15. I can barely walk through sand.

16. I love hearing the USA chant in the stands.

17. Wow, that fan really went all-out with the red, white and blue face paint.

18. OK, now we’re switching to gymnastics.

19. These girls are amazing.

20. #FinalFive yaaaas.

21. Again, are we sure some of these girls aren’t, like, 12?

22. I think the uneven bars is my favorite event.

23. Maybe the balance beam.

24. Actually, I like them all.

25. My favorite event might actually be watching Aly Raisman's parents in the audience.

26. I can’t believe she didn’t stick that landing.

27. Wait, I can barely do a cartwheel, never mind. She’s amazing.

28. The US team’s leotards are beautiful.

29. US WOMEN WIN BACK TO BACK GOLDS! YAY!

30. They make it look so easy.

31. If I would’ve stayed in gymnastics when I was five years old, I could have been in the Olympics. Maybe. Probably not, but oh well.

32. The US won another medal in swimming!

33. Katie Ledecky is amazing, wow.

34. OK, time for the medal ceremony.

35. Does anyone else get chills when the National Anthem plays, or is that just me?

36. USA! USA! USA!

37. OK, bye Bob Costas, see you tomorrow night!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
