Oddly, it is often easier to dwell on sadness than it is to focus on happiness. However, I encourage you to try to take these 33 remarks into consideration, especially as you start the new year.

1. You are worthwhile.

2. The most important relationship is the one you have with yourself.

3. Adhere to what you love, and don't be afraid of what others have to say about it.

4. Keep being the person you are. If not already, someone will one day love that person.

5. Think outside of the box.

6. Stop worrying about what you have lost and focus on what you can gain.

7. Don't lose hope in the idea that you will not be happy again; you will be.

8. Prioritize the people that prioritize you.

9. Holding onto hope, even when it won't change a situation, can help you get through it.

10. Focus on the little things that make you happy, and try and use that positive energy to remain strong.

11. If you think you deserve pain, you don't.

12. Face your fears.

13. You have made it until today, therefore you are stronger than you understand.

14. The emotion that often breaks your heart can be the one that also heals it.

15. Not everyone in this world will hurt you; it just takes time to find the people that will stay.

16. It is okay if you aren't where you want to be yet, you are on your way there.

17. Don't avoid happiness in fear of losing it.

18. Outgrow the people who do not grow themselves.

19. Take your potential into consideration.

20. Make a playlist of feel-good songs that contribute to your happiness.

21. Not everyone deserves your kindness, however, it doesn't mean you should prevent showing it.

22. Don't hold back from expressing the good in you.

23. Letting go does not mean you are not allowed to care.

24. Getting through the day is something that you should be proud of, even if other people don't understand your struggles.

25. It is okay to ask for help, or for someone to listen.

26. Don't use the new year as an excuse for you to start feeling better. Try your best to be happy in the now.

27. It is okay to repeat your mistakes. It means you were brave enough to make them again.

28. There is nothing wrong about admitting your wrongs and accepting what others have done.

29. There are a lot of wonderful people around. It just often takes some searching to find them.

30. Life is short- it is not worth holding grudges or onto the realities that upset you.

31. When people tell you to "move on," it doesn't mean you have to in that very moment.

32. Your life has happened in the way it has in order to shape you into the person you are today, and whether you see it or not, you are growing stronger from your struggles.

33. Fall in love with all that makes you, you.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
