31 Signs That You Live In Bergen County
  1. Your Sundays are always ridiculously dull since all the malls, retail stores, or any place that would bring you joy, is closed (curse you Blue Laws).
  2. Ramapo Reservation is your go-to place to hike (and take nature pics for Instagram).
  3. And Darlington Lake is your chill spot when you want to go swimming but are too lazy to drive down the shore.
  4. You considered everyone that went to Bergen Academies or Bergen Tech an overachiever when you were in high school.
  5. You appreciate how close you are to New York.
  6. Also, you don’t call it “New York City,” you call it “the city.”
  7. You’ve concluded that Ridgewood is probably one of the nicest places in the county.
  8. And Hackensack and Paramus are home to many of the attractions in the county.
  9. Wawa? Nah. It’s either 7-Eleven or Quick Chek for you.
  10. You have your own lingo with your squad that non-bergen county residents often do not understand (Did you just say it's brick outside?) (What do you mean by 'in the cut'?).
  11. You’ve paid for overpriced food or tickets at the Meadowlands State Fair (or some other event there).
  12. IHOP is a good time, but the Original House of Pancakes or Brownstone Pancake Factory are where the good hotcakes are at.
  13. You’ve probably been to The Brownstone for a wedding, special gathering or maybe even prom.
  14. You’ve probably been to White Manna in Hackensack and had a banging burger.
  15. Also, your friends have probably dragged you out of your neck of the woods to Passaic County to drive through Clinton Road (and you didn’t die!).
  16. The Shops at Riverside Square make you wish you had more money.
  17. Paramus is literally the land of malls.
  18. And GSP is basically the only one you visit.
  19. And finding parking there on a Saturday is a big joke.
  20. Every time you exchange phone numbers with someone when you’re away from home, and their area code is “201” you get super excited.
  21. When you were in high school, you probably talked a lot of smack about every other high school (especially on Twitter).
  22. Mitsuwa Marketplace in Edgewater is the best place for Japanese food.
  23. You’re probably obsessed with "The Real Housewives of New Jersey." You might even know one.
  24. You listen to Fetty Wap more than the average person.
  25. If you don’t live in Ridgefield or Ridgefield Park, you probably think they’re the same place.
  26. You've probably been to Medieval Times for "a 'knight' to remember."
  27. You’ve spent countless Friday nights driving around endlessly in a car with your friends because everything closes so dang early.
  28. You’ve been to some sort of function at the Fiesta Banquet Hall.
  29. And you've been personally screwed over by NJ Transit buses.
  30. Or became very frustrated while stuck in traffic on 17.
  31. You probably bag on Bergen County all the time, but it's your home, your hood, it's part of you and you can't change that #201.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
