- Oh, look! Andy Samberg is host, trying to be funny as usual, but his boyish charm forgives him for not being “classically funny.” Even better, Amy Poehler and Amy Schumer are now just “We Are Amy,” and we are into it.
- Supporting Male in Comedy is cool; there has to be someone I know who’ll win….NOPE! Some random from "Veep."
- Skip, skip, skip through the boring ones. Yay for writers. Yay for new content in media, blah blah blah.
- Finally, a good one: Female Lead in a Comedy Series! *As soon as I hear Amy Poehler nominated as Leslie Knope* SHE HAS TO WIN. It’s her last hurrah in "Parks and Rec!" She needs to take home the gold. *Anxiety intensifies as the announcer takes way too long to open the envelope.*
- NO! In what world does Julia Louis-Dreyfus win every freaking time, especially over Amy Poehler? She is a television icon on her last hurrah!
- Ahhh, James Corden. At least they know when to lift people’s spirits after that tragic blow.
- Finally, some refreshing humor that isn’t forced award-show talk, God bless the new king of "Late Night."
- Now onto Limited Series.... what on God’s green earth qualifies as a “limited series?"
- Update: Limited Series is basically just a short season. Leave it to the Emmys to get all fancy with names.
- Limited Series Actress: yes, I’m into it. So much "American Horror Story," so little time!
- Onto the nominations ... Sarah Paulson was literally two different people, and yet Regina King for "American Crime" killed it.
- Regina King wins it! Props to her; that speech was the sweetest.
- Emma Roberts is up next, and she looks so dope!
- Apparently not to everyone though. One of my housemates' commentary was, and I quote, “she looks like F**** Malfoy."
- *Waiting for the next award* No nominations for Olivia Pope? Did you not see her suffer as she was freaking held for ransom this season?
- Also, can we please note Kerry Washington's ensemble tonight? Too trill everyone, too trill.
- ANOTHER win for "Olive Kitteridge." What show even is that? I’m sorry, do these award shows expect everyone to drop those dolla bills on HBO?
- Oh, look at that another award for "Olive Kitteridge." Glad I know what the show's about or any of the plot, characters, etc.
- Now onto Supporting Actor in a Limited Series... *Hears Bill Murray's name* He’s gonna win; he’s gonna win. Oh, would you look at that? He wins! To quote Woody Harrelson in "Zombieland," “Bill-Freaking Murray!!!”
- *Lady Gaga enters like a beacon of glamour.* ”And here’s a nice lady that plays the piano,” says Andy Samberg.
- Onto another good one, I think. Lead Actor in Limited Series. Annnnnnd another "Olive Kitteridge" win, like WHO ARE YOU EVEN?
- Ahhh the ode to the TV shows that have fallen in the past year… Here’s to you "Glee," "Letterman," "Sons of Anarchy," "Parks and Rec," "Mad Men," "Colbert Report" and a bunch of other shows I have no recollection of existing.
- The nominations for Variety Show Writers all chirp the world with Trump and John Cena jokes. This is why you write the humor, people!
- Yes! Amy Schumer won, and all is right in the world. She casually gives a shout-out to her makeup artist and other swaggy people who helped her along her journey, ILY.
- When "The Daily Show" sweeps and you ain’t even mad.
- Ah, onto the good stuff! Best Supporting Actress in Drama goes to…..Uzo Aduba for playing Crazy Eyes in "Orange Is The New Black." Crazy Eyes sheds crazy tears, and my heart has officially melted.
- Yesssss! Peter Dinklage won; he’s too great. Finally, this night is turning around.
- John Hamm bows out as Donald Draper in his first win.
- OMG VIOLA DAVIS! It's her first Emmy win and nomination for "How To Get Away With Murder." Honestly, she gave such a beautiful speech about women of color and roles in film. The cut to Kerry Washington crying couldn’t be more emotional.
- Tracy Morgan closed out the show after his traumatic brain injury, got a well-deserved standing ovation and was moved almost to tears. Then, "Game Of Thrones" won Best Series and all was well again in the world. Until next year, Emmys.
