30 Things To Do Instead Of Worrying About This Election

If you have any social media accounts at all chances are you have heard about the current election. Even if you have absolutely no social media accounts you probably have still heard about the current election. Sure, the election is one of the best things about this country but this time around things seem different. I mean we actually had audience members drop a not-so-subtle "ooooooooooh" during the second debate when one candidate in particular promised to throw the opposing candidate in jail should he become president: this time around is just different. Between the memes, facebook arguments, hilarious voice-over videos, and overly opinionated articles about this election it can all get a little overwhelming to say the least. Well sit back, relax, and enjoy an article where you will not get political views shoved in your face, I promise. Check out some things to do instead of freaking out about the fate of our country.

1. Binge-watch "This Is Us"

No, seriously go watch it right now. It is amazing.

2. Play with your dogs.

3. If you don't have dogs, go adopt or buy some and then play with them.

4. Read a book.

Not a political one, don't do that to yourself.

5. Delete your emails.

Political pun not intended, at all. Everyone has a bunch of emails that are crowding their inboxes right? Take some time out to delete them (of course, if there are any with classified information you should keep those).

6. Try harder in your classes.

Stop watching silly debate videos and hit the books. Bernie isn't running so college won't be free anytime soon, start studying!

7. Count your calories. Maybe that will occupy your mind?

8. Sign up for a fun class.

I've always wanted to try cake decorating. Or pottery.

9. Check the requirements for your major.

Being prepared is always good.

10. Go sale-shopping.

11. Call your grandparents.

Or your aunts, uncles, parents, friends, cousins, sisters, brothers. Literally anyone.

12. Take a bath.

With fun-scented soap, duh!

13. Re-watch Gilmore Girls.

"If you're out on the road..."

14. Take up a hobby.

15. Go for a walk.

If that's your kind of thing.

16. Try a kale smoothie.

Then wash it down with ice cream.

17. Revamp your entire bedroom.

Move things around, change the lighting situation, get an accent rug. "Why" you may ask? Because you can, that's why.

18. Go out to dinner alone.

It can be oddly relaxing and fun.

19. Watch reality television.

Yes, even this can be better than thinking of our future president options.

20. Do some charity work.

Because you'll probably have time now that you are done freaking out.

21. Try a new restaurant.

And take me with you.

22. Drink some wine.

Again, if that's your kind of thing.

23. Learn to cook.

Tasty videos do not count. Go watch Rachel Ray or something.

24. Take a nap.

25. Go people-watching.

Just sit in public and watch what people do, who needs television?

26. Start a journal.

I have been trying to do this for about my entire life, if you succeed, let me know how.

27. Travel.

One town over, one state over, anywhere you'd like. See this beautiful country before it all goes downhill.

28. Make cupcakes.

Bring them to your work as a treat because you are just so nice! And bored. Mostly, you were just really bored.

29. Join a club.

30. Literally anything else besides worry.

Either way it's up to us. But whatever we do, we must vote. Because we can worry all we want but unless we all hit a button on November 8th that states our opinions, nothing matters.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
