No one likes to dwell on the bad. Some people don't even watch the news because there is always something bad happening. Sometimes people would rather ignore the truth and pay attention to things that have more fantasy or are more fluffy and easy to read or see.
But the harsh truth is that there are real problems in the world; there are things happening to people every day that are violent, heartbreaking and just plain wrong. Just because something is happening to people in another country, doesn't make it less important.
So I decided this week that I would make a sure list of three ways America has ignored real world problems — of course in my opinion.
1. Playing "Pokemon GO"
OK, I have no urge to download this probably fun and time-consuming game. Yes, I was a huge "Pokemon" fan as a kid, but I've been too busy reading TheSkimm updates on my phone to go running around in parks trying to catch Pokemon. Trust me, its a good app to have, you'll feel so caught up with everything that's happening in the world. http://www.theskimm.com
2. Exposing Taylor Swift
This Kanye and T-Swizz drama has been going on for so long, I've lost track of who is to blame for it all. Who cares if Taylor is stuck-up and fake? Can we talk about how the college student whose GoFundMe account was frozen by the same lady who created it for him? http://atlantablackstar.com/2016/07/28/gofundme-fr...
3. Digging up Clinton and Trump dirt
OK, I'm not saying the United States presidential election is not important, but I think we can all agree that it has gotten to the point where it's hard to take both candidates seriously. I mean, the president of the United States is a huge job and commitment. I've heard what the candidates want to change about here in the U.S., but can I get their two cents on the killing of a priest, inside of a church in France and other tragically important problems? http://nypost.com/2016/07/30/isis-teen-who-killed-...
There are so many more times when real-world problems have only gotten either a two-minute story on the news or no air-time at all. I encourage you all to not only open your eyes and ears to what's really happening to this fallen world, but to also use your voices to help make the stories that matter known.
