They are there when you are happy, and when you are sad. When you get excited, they get excited too. Regardless of what you've done or are doing, they always stay by your side. No matter your successes and mistakes, they always see the best in you. They are considered "man's best friend". They are our pet dogs!
Dogs are more than just animals, they carry feelings and emotions. They even can teach us humans a few things that we need to learn. Our canine friends provide us with prime examples of values that we humans should carry.
Here are just 3 of many attributes we can learn from our fetch-loving companions.
1. LOYALTY
When we think of dogs, we automatically think of how loyal they are. No matter how weird we are, or annoying we can be, they always love us whole-heartedly. Even though we can yell and scream at them for the smallest things, they always have our backs, and know how to reach the deepest parts of our hearts.
2. PATIENCE
Yes... Some dogs are not patient AT ALL, but sometimes they exhibit more patience behind closed doors than we know. Literally, behind closed doors!
If you have not seen the Secret Life of Pets trailer, go watch it now or you will not know what this example is about. Seen it? Good.
Now think about how Max tells his neighbor Gidget about what his big plans are for the day... He tells her that he is going to sit and wait for his owner (Katie) to get back home!
This is a prime example of how patient our dogs really are. Even though they cannot wait for you to put their food down or throw a ball, they will wait hours for their best friends to get back home.
3. COMPASSION
Dogs have a strong sense of the environment around them. They can read into our emotions and react accordingly. When we get loud and excited, so do they. If we are angry and having a tantrum, they know not to interfere with our "tissy fits".
Ultimately, they know when we need extra love. Those days where we are just gloomy and sad, our dogs know exactly how to comfort us. They are unable to use words to encourage us, but all they have to do is snuggle in our arms, and look into our eyes for us to know that they love us with their entire being.
If we could let our dogs teach us, rather than us teaching them how to sit or fetch, we could life much happier lives. Take a look at your dog, and see what you can learn from him or her today.
