What are college student’s two favorite words? Besides “free food,” “optional assignment,” and “you passed?” "Class Cancellation!" There is no better feeling than knowing that you don’t have to worry about setting an alarm for the next morning or finishing up an assignment that you inevitably procrastinated completing for class tomorrow. What is even better than having a class canceled, is having them all canceled and cuddling up on a snow day! With the recent weather that has hit New England, I thought it would be fitting to share the top three things that college students do when there is a snow day:

1. Nothing.

Snow days are the perfect excuse to stay in bed and catch up on some of those Z’s that you’ve been missing out on, thanks to classes. Or perhaps it is the perfect time to catch up on your favorite Netflix series. However you choose to spend your day of doing nothing, it is sure to be a great one.

2. Trek To The Cafeteria.

Whether you like it or not, sooner or later you will have to be brave and embark on a torturous journey to the cafeteria to forage for food. After slipping and sliding all the way there, you will likely come to realize that everyone had the same idea to come to the caf, and now they're out of food. This is when you make the walk of shame back to your room and apologize profusely to the pizza delivery guy that you’re making the drive in these hazardous conditions.

3. Dig Out The Car.

After enjoying your day off, reality hits hard when you come to the conclusion that you’ll have to dig your car out of the snowbank it was plowed into if you have any hopes of getting to class on time tomorrow. As if parking at a college wasn’t difficult enough already, the added obstacle of mountains of snow is just the icing on the cake.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
