25 Thoughts Everyone Has During Vinyasa Yoga

Yoga: A practice involving body, mind, and spirit that began around the 5th of 6th centuries BCE. What began as a group of physical, mental, and spiritual practices/disciplines originating in ancient India, has evolved into one of the latest exercise trends of the 21st century. I personally find myself attending classes that incorporate meditation and long, slow, deep stretches.

However, most people think of Vinyasa yoga when they want to use it as a form of physical, mental, and spiritual exercise. That being said, here are 25 thoughts everyone has when attending their first, second, or maybe even tenth Vinyasa class.

1. "Oh no! This class is packed. There are no more spots in the back but I don't want to be by the instructor or in anyone's way! This is going to be so embarrassing..."

2. "Why is everyone breathing so loud? Wait, where does my leg go?"

3. "What side are we supposed to be doing?"

4. "What if I just stay in child's pose the whole time..."

5. "Oooo yes. This is nice. Why haven't I done this before?"

6. "I'm going to be so in shape. Y'all better watch out. I am a true yogi."

7. "My yoga breath is so solid I am so zen right now."

8. "Cool, we're standing up now. Forward folding feels so great on my back wow!"

9. "Alright we're going a little fast here between the folding and standing I'm starting to get light-headed."

10. "Yaassss I am LOVING this mini backbend yoga Gods and Goddesses GIVE ME ENERGY!!"

11. "Balance poses? No problem. I can transform into a statue before your very eyes."

12. "Alright-- why is balancing on one leg so hard, can we go back to the folding?"

13. "I am a strong and sexy warrior and everyone should fear me."

14. "My leg is literally about to rip in half PLEASE LET'S BE DONE."

15. "Please don't fart. Please don't fart. Please don't fart"

16. "Oh, thank goodness we're back to floor stuff I can breathe again."

17. "Wait how am I supposed to breathe when I'm twisted this way."

18. "Okay I'm back up and I am sweating. Is it hot in here? Is anyone else hot?"

19. "Still can't breathe."

20. "Yay I get to lay down now."

21. "I am the happiest baby! Happy baby pose!!"

22. "This twist is life."

23. "Ahh yes turn those lights down. I am in love with this."

24. "I cannot believe how good I feel I am awesome."

25. "Namaste y'all. See you next week."

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
