25 Songs That Will Bring You Back To Middle School

Oh, middle school. Not necessarily a place I would volunteer to go back to. Awkward is one word that comes to mind when I think about those days. Let's just say I was not very cool. One thing that was cool back then and is still cool now is the music. 2000s music is awesome, but it is often overshadowed by '80s and '90s music. Paying tribute to the first songs of the millennium and those awkward days, here is a list of 25 2000s songs that will bring you back to middle school.

1. "Follow Me" - Uncle Kracker (2000)

We followed him, and everything was all right.

2. "It Wasn't Me" - Shaggy (2000)

Teaching us to blame others since the turn of the century.

3. "Pop" - *NSYNC (2001)

The birth of boy bands.

4. "A Thousand Miles" - Vanessa Carlton (2001)

Thanks to "White Chicks," this is the most iconic girl anthem ever.

5. "She Will Be Loved" - Maroon 5 (2002)

Most likely written as "she wiiiiilllll be loooovvvveddd <3" as our Facebook statuses.

6. "Get Low" - Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz (2002)

It's now a classic at every high school dance and wedding reception in America.

7. "Hey Ya!" - OutKast (2003)

"Now what's cooler than bein' cool? Ice cold!"

8. "Stacy's Mom" - Fountains of Wayne (2003)

If your name was Stacy, that was unfortunate.

9. "1985" - Bowling For Soup (2004)

We had no idea what went on in 1985, but we still rocked out to this one.

10. "Since U Been Gone" - Kelly Clarkson (2004)

We've cheered for Kelly ever since her first audition on "American Idol."

11. "Hollaback Girl" - Gwen Stefani (2004)

Thank goodness Gwen taught us how to spell "bananas."

12. "Yeah!" - Usher (2004)

Yeah? Yeah.

13. "Sugar, We're Goin Down" - Fall Out Boy (2005)

Still jamming, even if we didn't know the lyrics.

14. "My Humps" - Black Eyed Peas (2005)

Did we even know what they were singing about!?

15. "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" - Panic! At The Disco (2005)

"I chime in with haven't you people ever heard of closing the... door."

16. "Don't Cha" - Pussycat Dolls (2005)

We didn't let our parents hear us listening to this one.

17. "Bad Day" - Daniel Powter (2006)

Made famous as the classic "American Idol" goodbye song.

18. "SexyBack" - Justin Timberlake (2006)

JT, the king of 2000s music himself.

19. "Umbrella" - Rihanna (2007)

"Ella, ella, ella. Ay, ay, ay."

20. "Crank That" - Soulja Boy (2007)

The middle school dance song. We would get in a line of friends and do the routine.

21. "No Air" - Jordin Sparks & Chris Brown (2007)

Looking back, this song was more dramatic than it should have been, but we didn't care.

22. "Pocketful of Sunshine" - Natasha Bedingfield (2008)

This was the song that was most likely to get stuck in your head.

23. "Apple Bottom Jeans" - Flo Rida (2008)

We didn't even know what Apple Bottom jeans were, but we still wanted them.

24. "Hot N Cold" - Katy Perry (2008)

Katy finally told the world about how indecisive guys are.

25. "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)" - Beyoncé (2008)

"Oh oh oh... ."

Well, I guess these songs made middle school not that bad.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
