Bad days are the absolute worst. Some days, it seems that absolutely nothing can go your way. I think it is important to find ways to turn your bad day around. Here are some of mine.
1. Have a dance party.
It doesn't matter if it is by yourself or with a group of friends. Just dance it off.
2. Write down five (or more) qualities you love about yourself.
The first step to turning your day around is by changing your attitude. Ignore what the haters say and find those parts of you that you love!
3. Go get some ice cream.
Who doesn't love ice cream? A bowl or cone of ice cream can cheer (almost) anyone up.
4. Go for a walk.
Fresh air and a little bit of exercise can work wonders on your mood. Pay attention to how beautiful the world is when your'e outside.
5. Go to the gym.
I love getting my anger out by working really hard at the gym. Plus, the endorphin rush will make you feel amazing.
6. Cook yourself a nice dinner.
The world always seems much brighter when you have a full belly. Cook yourself your favorite dinner. Whether it be mac and cheese or steak, comfort food will put a smile on your face.
7. Go hang out with your friends.
Sometimes being alone can make you feel even worse. Hang out with some of your favorite people and try to leave your bad day behind you.
8. Bake.
Cookies, brownies, cupcakes; it doesn't matter. The smell of fresh baked goods is amazing and the way they taste is even better.
9. Read a book.
Try to get lost in a world outside your own. Even if it is only for a few hours, you can forget about everything that is weighing on your mind.
10. Watch a movie.
Just like reading a book, a movie can be a great distraction. Even better? Watch a comedy. Laughter is the cure to a bad day.
11. Buy yourself a gift.
There are days when you just need to reward yourself for being you. Buy that pair of shoes you've been dying to get or that new video game that you want to play.
12. Meditate.
Meditation really clears your mind and helps you regain your balance. If you don't know how to meditate or need help getting started, there are plenty of websites that will start you on your meditation journey.
13. Smile.
Fake it 'til you make it. You may not be in a good mood but it has been proven that simply smiling will actually improve your mood and make you feel happier.
14. Ride a bike.
I must confess-- I do not know how to ride a bike... BUT, if you can, go for a bike ride and enjoy the sensation of the wind on your face. For those of you like me, maybe today is your day to learn how to ride a bike.
15. Climb a tree.
The first time I climbed a tree, the only emotion I felt was pure joy. Climbing a tree may be simple, but it can turn your day around.
16. Play some sports.
Go play a pick up soccer or ultimate frisbee game with your friends. Don't bother keeping score. Just play for fun!
17. Fly a kite.
Not only are kites fun to fly, but they are beautiful to look at.
18. Sing.
Whether you're a professional musician or the type of person who only sings when you're alone in your car, find your favorite song and belt it out.
19. Listen to relaxing music.
If you don't want to sing, you can just listen to your favorite music. Whatever it is, find music that you know will make you feel better.
20. Play video games.
Just like reading a book or watching a movie, playing video games can bring you to an entirely new world and get your mind off your bad day.
21. Call your family.
Whenever I have a bad day I always call my mom or dad. I may have moved out two years ago, but hearing their familiar voices is a huge comfort.
22. Take a nap.
Sleep deprivation could be contributing to why you feel so poorly. Catch some z's and take on your day when you wake up.
23. Look at pictures of baby animals.
They're so cute and fluffy! It is impossible to be sad when looking at a baby animal.
24. Take a deep breath.
So, you might not have time to do any of this right now. It is okay. Take a deep breath. Everything will be okay.
