"There is always something to be thankful for."

Every year when Thanksgiving approaches, I like to think of everything I am thankful for. While I remind myself I should be thankful on a daily basis, Thanksgiving is a uniquely special time of the year to show gratitude to the world. This year since Thanksgiving falls on the 24th of November, I am writing about 24 things that I am thankful for. Here I go.

1. God

I am so grateful for God who gives us the opportunity of life. I thank him for waking my family, my friends, and I up each and every morning and giving us the blessing of life. I believe that he protects us and that everything happens for a reason.

2. My family.

I am beyond grateful for the wonderful family that I have been blessed with. Without them, I am not sure where I would be at. My family always guides me and nurtures me when needed. They are people who I can be myself around and they are truly always there for me (and vice versa).

3. My mother.

As I mentioned earlier, I am grateful for my entire family. My mother is such an inspiration and she is honestly my hero. I do not think I could ever repay her for everything that she has done, continues to do, and will do for me.

4. My Guardian Angels in Heaven.

While I wish that they were here with me, I am forever grateful for my Guardian Angels in Heaven. I miss them dearly, because I know that there are always watching over me and protecting me from anything and everything. I am grateful that they get to spend the rest of their eternal lives with God and each other. One day I know that we will meet again, which gives me hope.

5. My friends.

I have never really had a "big friend circle," but I love the friends that I do have. I know that they are always supportive and will tell me if something is not in my best interest. I feel like I can truly be myself when I am around them and the laughs are endless.

6. Food.

A lot of people take this for granted, but food is definitely something to be thankful for. There are thousands of people who are only able to get one meal a day or none at that.

7. Home.

I am forever grateful for having a home. "No place is like home." I am so thankful to have a roof over my head, because I know that there are homeless people who are in need of shelter and not able to have that opportunity.

8. Good health.

I am grateful for good health and having the opportunity to go to the doctor when I am feeling under the weather. Millions of Americans are uninsured, so having the chance to be able to go visit the doctor when needed is truly a blessing.

9. A job.

So many people are without a job or recently laid off. In today's society, finding a job can be very difficult (especially, for people my age). I am grateful that I have had a job since I was 14 years old and that I still have a job today.

10. The chance/opportunity to be able to go to school.

A lot of people around the world are not able to receive the opportunity to be able to go to school. As a freshman in college, I am so thankful that I was able to go to school and to further my education at a collegiate level. A lot of kids have to work in order to help their families from not drowning in bills or even being homeless as a result. A lot of people have to make sacrifices, which is admirable because it shows how hard they work. So given this opportunity is very nice.

11. My freedom.

As a United States citizen, I am so thankful that I have been granted my freedom in such a wonderful country. In many other countries, people are not as fortunate and are not given the freedom that the United States has to offer. I will be forever grateful to the soldiers who have in the past, who are currently, and who will in the future fight for my rights and freedom for this entire country.

12. Starbucks.

As an obbessed Starbucks junky, I am so thankful that there is Starbucks almost everywhere. I am extremely grateful for their hot chocolate, pumpkin spice frappes, and their pastries. A single frappe can change my mood in a sec.

13. Life.

I am so grateful to be able to live and have a good, nurturing life. It truly is a blessing for everyone to wake up every day and be able to have another day on this wonderful Earth, thanks to God. Not every day is guaranteed and tomorrow is not promised, so living life to the fullest is something that I strive for.

14. Netflix.

I never realized how grateful I am for Netflix until I started college. I am thankful that I can binge watch TV shows, watch an endless amount of movies, and enjoy everything that Netflix has to offer for only $8.99/per month.

15. Chocolate.

Seriously, chocolate is one of the best inventions in the world. Any chocolate is good chocolate, and sometimes it can be my best friend. Having such a delicacy is such a blessing and I am forever grateful.

16. Chick-Flicks.

I always love a good chick-flick. I love the movies that result in an endless amount of tears and leaves me as a hopeless romantic. I am especially a sucker for the Christmas chick-flicks (I mean c'mon, it cannot get much better than that).

17. Anything pumpkin spice.

Yes, I am unleashing my "basicness" at this very moment, I am so grateful for everything pumpkin spice. From pumpkin spice lattes, frappes, and much more, it makes me so happy. When I start seeing Pumpkin Spice, I know that fall is quickly approaching which makes me such a happy girl. Fall is my fav.

18. Sleep.

Sometimes I feel like sleep is overrated. Since the start of college, my sleep patterns and schedules have changed drastically. I am grateful when I can get a good amount of sleep, because it makes me feel well-rested and puts me in a better mood. Sleep should be cherished whenever give the opportunity to catch up on it.

19. Safety.

I am so grateful that I am safe. With such a strong police force, I have comfort knowing that I can be safe. There are some bad things in this world, but I have faith in humanity that one day we will change and everyone can feel safe all of the time.

20. Thrift Shops.

I am a sucker for shopping, but it does not get much better than shopping at thrift shops. I love rummaging through all of the shelves and finding things that are cheap. The feeling of finding a cute dress for $3.99 is quite wonderful.

21. Mexican food.

I loooooooove Mexican food. I am so grateful for Casa Grande and their chicken enchiladas with queso sauce. I probably could eat Mexican food every day if I could.

22. Beautiful sunsets.

Sunsets are so beautiful. I am grateful that the sky is so serene and that I can find happiness, joy and peace just by looking at a beautiful sunset.

23. Fall.

Fall is probably one of my favorite seasons. I love when the leaves are changing colors, the weather is becoming cooler, I can get away with wearing sweaters and scarves, and everything Pumpkin Spice is making its comeback. Also, fall signifies that Thanksgiving is near (and that is something to be thankful for).

24. Taking selfies.

"But first....let me take a selfie." All I have to say is that selfies are fun.

While there are so many things in this world to be grateful for, I hope that everything thinks about the things that they are most grateful for. As Thanksgiving approaches, I hope that everyone is given the opportunity to spend time with their families, eat some good food (stuffing is the best) and reflect on everything that they are thankful for.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
