21 Signs It's Winter In New England

There is nothing quite like winter in New England. Some days we get two feet of snow, and other days it feels like spring. In case you want to know what it is like or just need to know others are going through this with you, here are 21 signs that it is winter here in New England.

1. The temperature is in the single digits or below but you are still leaving your house.

Nothing closes until the pipes burst here (unless we get over two feet of snow.. then things close). Better bring a shovel just in case!

2. Anything above 10 degrees almost feels tolerable after you've felt single digit weather.

But the wind will still bite you, so watch out!

3. While walking, you will run just a little bit every few steps because your body is probably in fight or flight mode.

Have you ever added a little shuffle into your step? Watch other people. It's totally a thing.

4. When winter starts, you could bundle up, but you don't want to.

Who wants to be the first person to wear their winter coat out, anyway? Not me. #weak

5. You eventually have to give in and wear that coat that makes you look like a marshmallow because it's absolutely freezing.

And magically, your style and fashion choices become irrelevant.

6. You've never actually purchased hand-warmers, somehow have a stash of them in your room, but still don't use them.

Where do these things come from, anyway? Mom?

7. There's always the temptation to hibernate rather than handle your responsibilities.

Other animals do it, why can't we?

8. Of course you want your Dunkin' Donuts coffee iced.

It's better that way. And it's cooler! (Get it?)

9. You wear multiple pairs of pants at the same time.

Nothing like trying to layer with skinny jeans!

10. When anything over 35 degrees is warm, and you wonder if you shouldn't have worn your coat today.

Is this a normal thing for people in other places? Or..?

11. Regardless of the actual temperature, there's always that one person wearing shorts or no coat.

What... what what are you doing? Seriously, how is he doing this without getting frostbite?

12. When you feel warmth on the lower half of your body, and you wonder if you've peed yourself but then you realize it's the heat from the suns rays.

I'm having a weird day. It's winter, be nice to me.

13. Dogs wearing booties is still cute no matter how many times you see it.

They're just so cute and functional!

14. You've recently seen snow banks that are taller than you.

Shout out to Winter 2015. I don't know about you all, but Boston got slammed!

15. You have eaten snow with maple syrup at some point in your life and want to do it again next time it snows.

Honestly, one of the best ideas I've ever had as a kid, minus my present concern about toxins coming down with the snow from the air...

16. Summer feels so far away that you're not sure you remember what it is actually like to feel the sun.

17. You see old advertisements and they still feel applicable even though Christmas was like, two months ago.

Christmas Round Two, anyone?

18. Bare feet are a thing of the past, and the time of warm cozy socks reigns once again.

I will wear colorful fuzzy socks in public with sneakers. I truly have no shame.

19. You could go out tonight, but it would mean you'd have to go outside so you probably won't.

Netflix and chill?

20. Every time you leave the house, you go into survival mode.

If you don't get inside soon you better figure out what you're going to do if your legs and face keep hurting like this.

21. Although you're so done with this season, you are hopeful because sometimes it is absolutely gorgeous and you know eventually spring will come!

Hang in there! We're so close!!!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
