Over the past week, I watched a Lord of the Ring (LOTR) and Hobbit marathon, the regular versions. I have watched all of the LOTR movies before and even played the video games on PlayStation2 and watched some of the Hobbit when it was on TV but this was the first time I sat down and watched all of the movies consecutively. As I was watching the movies I noticed that there were many things that happened without full explanation. I understand that it is hard to fit so much detail into three movies but perhaps the director should have made an extra movie to help explain all of the details. Nevertheless here are the 21 questions that surfaced through my mind during the marathon:
1) Why did Gandalf choose Bilbo out of all the hobbits in the Shire?
I understand that Bilbo is one of the more adventurous hobbits in the Shire but I am sure there were other Hobbits that were adventurous as well.
2) Are there orc females?
3) How was Sauron even born?
4) How did Sauron make the ring?
5) Who are the five wizards?
Gandalf, Saruman, Rabbergast...
6) How is Isildor's sword able to free the Army of the Dead?
I understand the pact made between the Army of the Dead and Aragorn's ancestors but only one sword could defend this army?
7) How is it that Aragorn fended off the Black Riders with a torch in The Fellowship of the Ring and the Black Riders Could not even follow him?
8) How did Sauron and Saruman join forces?
9) Why Didn't the Elves help protect Gondor in The Return of the King?
Seriously? They helped defend Rohan but not Gondor?
10) Are Gandalf and Galadriel dating?
11) How Are Orcs made?
12) How come there aren't any strong orc commanders like Azog in any of the LOTR movies?
13) What is the messengers deal in Return of the King? Is that supposed to be Saron?
14) In the battle of Five Armies who were the five armies?
Man, Dwarf, Elves, Orcs?
15) Who becomes king of the Dwarves after Oakenshield dies?
16) After looking like such a boss in all of the LOTR films why does Legolas look so pathetic chasing around Tauriel throughout the Hobbit?
The only justice done to Legolas' character is when the elves captures the Dwarves and Legolas stumbles upon Gimli's Dad.
17) Does the weed that the Hobbits and Gandalf smoke only affect hobbits?
Gandalf smoked the same weed and he seemed fine but Merry and Pippen are always affected.
