Well, it's finally here. The week I have been looking forward to since I was about 14 years old. This week, on the 29th of October, will be my 21st birthday! *Cue the confetti*
Yes, it is true, I am turning the ripe old age of 21. Several years ago if you asked me how I felt about turning 21, I would have said it couldn't come here fast enough. Now, with only days in counting until the "glorious" day, I couldn't help but not care much at all. I mean sure, it is my birthday and I still want to be treated like a princess for a day, but the idea of going out to a bar and getting entirely too wasted to even remember that I turned 21 doesn't appeal to me anymore. Sure, am I going to like ordering a fancy drink when I go out to dinner? Of course, but that is about as wild as it is going to get for me. Instead, I have much better ideas for spending my 21st birthday and for all of those other old souls out there who would rather remember their birthday than spending it over a toilet bowl.
1. Go to the Zoo
Animals... do I need to say more?
2. Get Starbucks
Because iced coffees in October are totally acceptable.
(Bonus: if someone pays for me)
3. Read a book
I've got at least 6 books that have been neglected, and it is time to crack them open.
4. Go to a pumpkin patch
Carving pumpkins is definitely an adult thing.
5. Watch scary movies
Or, because I am a complete baby, I can pretend to watch said scary movies.
6. Go to a football game
I mean, the Memphis tigers are undefeated, who wouldn't want to see that?!
7. Have late night Karaoke match
What is more fun than listening to your friends trying to sing Xtina?
8. Get breakfast at 2 a.m.
There is no wrong time for pancakes.
9. PASS MY TEST
This one's looking at you, Mr. Lindsay.
10. Get a sno cone
No, It is not too cold. It is never too cold for Jerry's Sno Cones.
11. Buy a tiara
I am a princess after all (ask my boyfriend).
12. Watch Netflix
I need to finish this season of Doctor who, so I can start binge-watching something else that will completely take over my life.
13. GET BARBECUE
Because Central BBQ is literally all there is to happiness. Don't argue with me on this one.
14. Figure out the last minute costume
I'm the worst procrastinator, but hey, I've still got an entire week!
15. Play board games
Competitive and a huge child. That basically sums me up.
16. Get a Mani/pedi
Being pampered on your birthday is something to strive for, right?
17. Lay out under the stars
There is nothing more perfect than looking at the stars at night. Nothing.
18. Go on an all night drive
Driving around, playing music, and having those meaningful 4 a.m. conversations is better than a bar any day of the week.
19. Laugh at old pictures
There is a lot to laugh about, trust me. Thank God for change.
20. Eat cake
If there isn't a cheesecake, there isn't a birthday.
and last but not least
21. Be surrounded by people who love me
21 may seem glamorous, but it isn't as important as being true to yourself and having all the fun imaginable. Have a drink, taste freedom, but don't let the idea of a number you have been waiting on change who you are.
21 is just another birthday, it is what you do with it that makes it worth remembering.
Happy Birthday to all my other Birthday Week pals!
